I reckon only because of Kenny Sansom and his disciplinary record stopped him playing for England. Fantastic left back.
Strange times. Hs predecessor between the sticks for Leicester was Gordon Banks and yet as a 1st division side they were always ****e until the last few years.
Funny that Banks whilst being possible the finest goalkeeper of his generation never seemed to play well against us......he was in goal for Leicester when we beat them 4-2 on way to winning league cup and then for stoke when we beat them in the last game of that 68/69 season when we only won 4 times all season and had the lowest points total in the division until derby took that title from us.....
https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00v2b42 Part of a longer documentary from a few years back about the history of streets in the UK. 57 Portland Road, the house where the family shared with over 40 other tenants, last sold for £4.35million. I got priced out of Ladbroke Grove over 30 years ago, what I could afford as a mortgage wouldn't have bought a garage to park a car! The doc bought a tear to my eye as archive footage of post-war residents had people who looked and sounded like family and neighbours, they were being evicted by utter bastards like Rachman. Very much cheek by jowl between the rich and poor in that part of the world.
And within minutes of posting this, the name Karl Connolly pops into my head without even thinking about it
I remember reading the match programme notes and he was voted worst dressed player because of his tendency to wear cowboy boots and naff shirts. A man after my own heart!
Jurgen Sommer. The next one - A decent player but retired early due to injury. Looks like Wardley in the bakground.
