Even more hilarious is the fact Leeds have won three top-flight league titles in three different decades since Spurs last won the league
Everton, Villa, Sunderland, Newcastle, Wednesday, Wolves, Leeds, Huddersfield and Blackburn. All those clubs have won more top-flight league titles than 'big six' Spurs.
if they join they should be banned from the FA Cup, all players banned from World and European Tournaments, each club...should they wish to rejoin the domestic league start in the National league and have to fight for promotion, and have to play in the Papa Johns Pizza cup
If FIFA threaten to ban players participating in the Super League from representing their country, hardly any Brazilian players will play in it. The Seleção has and always will mean more to Brazilian players than whatever club they play for.
Leicester and west ham could finish in the cl places yet not make the “super league” It would be a shame if they left the pl but maybe it’s a chance to take the power and the game back. It’s spiralling out of control money wise. There would be more chance of teams doing a “Leicester” which I think would be good for the game
Statement by UEFA, the English Football Association, the Premier League, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), LaLiga, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and Lega Serie A UEFA, the English Football Association and the Premier League, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and LaLiga, and the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and Lega Serie A have learned that a few English, Spanish and Italian clubs may be planning to announce their creation of a closed, so-called Super League. If this were to happen, we wish to reiterate that we – UEFA, the English FA, RFEF, FIGC, the Premier League, LaLiga, Lega Serie A, but also FIFA and all our member associations – will remain united in our efforts to stop this cynical project, a project that is founded on the self-interest of a few clubs at a time when society needs solidarity more than ever. We will consider all measures available to us, at all levels, both judicial and sporting in order to prevent this happening. Football is based on open competitions and sporting merit; it cannot be any other way. As previously announced by FIFA and the six Confederations, the clubs concerned will be banned from playing in any other competition at domestic, European or world level, and their players could be denied the opportunity to represent their national teams. We thank those clubs in other countries, especially the French and German clubs, who have refused to sign up to this. We call on all lovers of football, supporters and politicians, to join us in fighting against such a project if it were to be announced. This persistent self-interest of a few has been going on for too long. Enough is enough. https://www.uefa.com/insideuefa/med...he-english-football-association-the-premier-/
Banter FC make official announcement. Celebrate a draw against Fulham like they've won the title yet think they're entitled to play against Europe's best when they can't qualify on merit. Now it's official and no longer conjecture, bring in that 20 points deduction and send 'em down.
this is the kind of thing clubs such as these have actually used as leverage to acquire more power. threatening a breakaway league may once more have been intended to do just that, but if that is the case this time, it's clearly backfired massively. from where i'm sitting, it looks EXACTLY the same as the process that brought about the premier league, with the clubs involved in that scam leaving the football league and taking shelter under the treacherous wings of the football association. the parallels are clear and obvious.
M At least with the premier League there is relegation. If this goes ahead (can't see it myself) I hope it blows up in their face. Imagine Salford being in a higher league than ManUre. Time for bed. UTT
No-one tells them how to run their businesses. No word from any managers or players, or their agents yet. Plenty of ex's having their say.
the european super league said the founding clubs had agreed to establish a "new midweek competition" with teams continuing to "compete in their respective national leagues". our survey said
the write-up in the independent is unsurprisingly sycophantic and appears to believe the marketing hype. eff off, indie, you brown-nosed commie bastards.
Jamie Carragher has called Liverpool an embarrassment on Twitter. Sky will be readying him for his reaction on Monday Night Football later.
Fair play to the French and especially German clubs for having nothing to do with this cynical bollocks. I hope the governing bodies stand firm with the maximum possible sanctions.
The German clubs are 51% owned by the fans, so the fans ultimately have the final say, leaving rich owners unable to force these things through as they can here.
