I'm expecting us to win this 'friendly' handsomely, despite Johnson never actually 'going for it' . . . . we need to test our shooting boots and Northampton (who are a fourth division team) will already be demoralised, so cobblers to them 'cos this is an important warm-up for us. Anyway, my theory is that Kyril never wanted automatic promotion . . . . he wanted the decline that we've had recently so that he'd have two Wembley victories on his c.v. in his first season, so this is all planned and we shouldn't worry
Id like to see a mixture of youth and experience play here. Younger, Ross Stewart and Diamond should definitely start and ONien, Power and Mcgeady and Wyke should definitely be given a rest. Thats my opinion anyway. Josh Hawkes should definitely be given some game time aswell.
If McLaughlin-Wright-O'Nien-Hume is the back four to take us into the play offs, then I'd play them tomorrow. The more games they play together, the better. Be tempted to make changes ahead of them. Keep Wyke and McGeady in cotton wool for the play offs. Gooch plays better when he's given a run of games and I'd give Diamond another chance (thought he was poor at Plymouth) Burge McLaughlin Wright O'Nien Hume Winchester Power Diamond Gooch Jones Stewart Having said that, Johnson has talked about Vokins and McFadzean "needing minutes" so it wouldn't surprise me to see changes Be good to get Flanagan some minutes towards the end in case we need him in the play offs
Yes I agree with McLaughlin playing, but if hes still not totally over his last injury then i wouldnt risk him. His injury problems have hampered him all season. ONien looks like he needs a rest to me, although being the man he is he'll probably tell Johnson otherwise. Power is another one that has barely had a rest either these last few months. I think a rest would rejuvenate the 2 of them ready for the playoffs. Id be tempted to play Winchester and Dan Neil in midfield.
Agree. We also need younger to play. Any injuries to centre halves and he has to play to give him a bit experience.
I'd just say there was wads of injuries and save all the first eleven for the playoffs, a bit of ****housery skullduggery, just like what all the other fcukers in this league do.
Not worth a new thread and obviously I've had a few, so just putting it here. Dunno why, but I keep getting links to videos of lot's of plebs dancing to ra ra Rasputin. It seems to be that there is a proper dance, which I don't mind, but, there's also a made up dance, which for some reason gets right on my tits. If you can't do the proper dance, please just fcuk off.
I’d consider resting a few players, I’d expect to beat Northampton whatever side we put out. Certainly I wouldn’t risk McGeady or Wyke after they missed Plymouth through injury. Stewart and Gooch deserve to keep their places too after some good performances.
Give Maclaughlan about 50-60 minutes. Rest Wright, Onion, Power, Jones and Hume. Play Younger, Niel. Don’t risk Wyke or McGeady. Bring on Hawkes for 30-40 minutes. Start Maguire, Diamond, Stewart. Possibly try McFadgean on left wing and Vokins at LB. To me, the result isn’t so important. Even if we lose I wouldn’t worry. The 3 points don’t mean much. It doesn’t matter who we end up playing, they’re all capable. Use this game to give players game time or a rest so that we go into the playoffs as strong as we can be.
Well they and Warnock can piss off wyke will stay here if we go up. should have finished 2nd but would like 3rd if possible. Lee does not mind who we play ? i do and not Blackpool, Pompey would be good but who knows 2-0 anyhow.
i definitely think your wrong there Monty if we do go up the money end of the club will spend to make sure 1 WE CAN BE COMPETITIVE 2 GOOD ENOUGH TO CHALLENGE TO BRING THE CROWDS BACK 3 MAKE WHOLESALE CHANGES IN THE GOALKEEPING STRIKER AND MIDFIELD AREAS 4 RETAIN VERY GOOD YOUNG PROSPECTS WHO WILL BE WORTH LOTS OF MONEY LIKE DIAMOND 5 GIVE US A TEAM TO BE PROUD OF
Same! Which seems bizarre when we’re talking about a 30 goal striker. Don’t get me wrong I’d rather he stayed but I certainly wouldn’t be held to ransom by him if he decides to use Boro’s interest as leverage in any contract talks. Having said that he’s a Boro fan so he’d probably be keen to join them in any case.
