Players Underperforming Football Failures to the uninitiated or screechy millennials. No wonder the inferior but hungrier Barsley or Millwall type teams brushed us aside That's why it was a mystery why we let Batty go, we sorely lacked his spirit.
I couldn't agree more with this. McCann DID do a fantastic job last season, but there were periods (parts of December and February) when it was starting to look a bit dicey and our points total wouldn't have got us up over the past few seasons. I don't think pointing out that at times the team wasn't playing to its full potential is particularly negative. Saying they are a bad team would be, but not all the posts were like that at all. Equally I don't think expressing concern about other team's games in hand is panicking. It was very possible that we could have been overtaken at various points. Credit to McCann and the team for making sure that they kept the door shut when the other sides didn't do that. The run at the end of the season was magnificent and for me was the most important part of us getting promoted. I personally didn't see that coming at the time and I'm delighted I was wrong.
