Not sure what I think about this. He’s a decent player at times but really there’s no room for sentimentality in football. It’s a big ask to make this squad go again next season without an improvement in quality as Sheffield united found out, bit like driving last year’s formula one car. Haven’t really added anything with him accepting a new contract and finally signing Harrison.
When you take into account three of the new signings, Llorente, Koch and Rodrigo were mainly out injured during the first half of the season, you could say the squad improved massively when they returned during the run in - look upon them as early summer signings and up to speed already for next season - so adding a further two or three players of similar quality to them and it'll be a vastly superior squad to the one a year earlier. So we haven't really been standing still with regards to improving the squad - it's continuously evolving.
32M for Rapha is that for his right foot or left? going to have to try alot harder than that Scousers.
Exactamon Even Raphinha was out for a few games at the death and to be fair he wasnt back to his best then. Raphinha, Rodrigo and Koch will improve no end next season as well as having a top performer in Llorente. We also had Klich who was i jured and tired all season until the last couple if games, plus we had no cover for Phillips who was out injured a couple of times and suspended, but now know we have options. We only need to have everyone fit and an upgrade at LB and upgrade options in midfield and we will fly next season. Lets be frank here Everton are going to go backwards without Ancelotti, so one less to worry about. And it will take more than £35m for us to sell Raphinha and I dont think he wants to go because he bought into the Leeds project and not in England for the huge salary he can earn as he is already earning more than he ever wished for now. But if he does get his head turned its good that we could treble what we paid for him
All very good points but even when fit, only Llorente and Raphinha became regular starters, bulk of the team was still the championship winning side.
Doc even before their manager left I was never worried about Everton finishing above Leeds next season they couldn't do it even when he was there
