No, this isn’t going to be what you are expecting. My position on Joey Barton is pretty well established. I didn’t want him to come to my club, I still don’t want him here, I may re-consider if he scores the winner for us in the Champions League Final.

However, many of you did want him here, told those of us who didn’t to shut up and start supporting him as he is now an R. So now, only 5 games later, you are starting to question his role as captain and even his place in the team. So what happened to supporting him as he is now an R?

I didn’t see any lack of effort from him yesterday, he took up good positions, made some good passes. He appeared to be encouraging the other players, trying to pass on ideas, what more do you want? He is not Terry Venables!

You know this fuss today about ric-roc and his good info.
Well what he posted after the Fulham game re 'our Joe' is very worrying, and I think Warnock might be losing the dressing room.
Hope I'm wrong, cos I'd like it to work out for the old fella, but he does seem to be losing it a bit.

Something is not right I know that Northy ... This is not QPR at the moment he hasn't lost the dressing room but he has damaged the team spirit he had ... We had lot against us last year and that was our food our togetherness if you like .... It's priceless and you could smell it .. This year in the flesh it's only there in fits and spurts Barton is only interested in Barton ... We need to love that Adel boy again and quickly he drives us if we lost him it's curtains

ric-roc leak after Fulham would also explain why Bothroyd was dropped (apart from lack of goals, of course) .

Team spirit doesn't grow over night, especially now that bigger egos are involved. Last season Warnock had the pre-season and time out of the spotlight to create it last season, this season, due to the reasons we all know too well, he has not. I'm happy to give him longer to achieve this, but that doesn't mean that I don't share your concerns.

We will learn more about the character of the players over the next month, that's for sure.

Well anyway, something is wrong in the team, even if it's just on the pitch. Things seemed to have gone a bit wrong in between the Villa and Fulham game. But they obviously made improvements since Fulham. Yet they still have work to do until they're back at the level they were against Newcastle and Wolves. We've taken two steps backwards!

Whether or not we should have signed Barton is now of course irrelevant. Should he be captain? Personally, I still believe it should be Derry, when I suggested that on here, I was shouted down, being told that Derry wouldn't be playing, so how could he be captain!
Anyway, if not Derry, then Barton is the man for me. You need a strong character to be captain in this league, & Joey is certainly that. I still think it's a bit early to be getting too concerned about performances, unfortunately, I didn't see yesterday's game as I was working nights last week. The lack of goals, particularly at home needs sorting out, Campbell's injury doesn't help of course. We'll have a better idea of where we are come Christmas, then Sir Neil will have the opportunity the address the shortfalls in January.
The majority of you on this forum stated that you'd be happy with 17th place come May, I'm wondering if that is really the case?

Ahhhhhhh, I remember the good old days where you could be **** for years and no one would complain, they just supported their team come what may, because it was their team.

    Now???

Warnock isn't the messiah, he's a very naughty boy. Sack him. He hasn't got what it takes. And my favorite of all, "I told you so". We used to be a club of level headed supporters who just loved our club for what it was, but now some seem to have forgotten our history and look on at Chelsea with eyes of envy, hoping that we'll spend more than the club can afford and push for European glory, this season.

At the start of the season I think we'll all have happily accepted being in 10th place, why now are so many people being so unrealistic and blaming Warnock for getting us to where we are now?

Some people are going mad because of Warnocks interview where he shows the interviewer an email, with the sendee's address attached. Good. People need to get their heads out their arses and realize that all this ITK bull**** can damage the club in ways that we can't imagine. In some industries it's called Industrial Espionage, but because it's football it's called "ITK". This can especially hurt us when trying to buy players as it tips the players and current clubs hand and gives them extra bargaining power. But people don't give a **** about the damage, as long as they get their info to the masses and gain some craved kudos.

But the thing that really makes me laugh, the fact that if any of these ITK people pass on their Golden nugget of info and it has a positive ring to it, most people will attack them with such Venom you wouldn't believe we all support the same club. How dare you try and say something positive about the club. This happens even when the person passing on some info, states very clearly it is just what they heard and not written in stone. But this doesn't stop the very same people from glorifying other people ITK when they post something claiming that the apocalypse is about to descend on the club. Amazing.

People need to remember where we've come from and just how bad things have been. Last year there was many a young supporter saying to anyone who didn't attend a game, where were you when we were ****, well there are many of us who have been there when we were **** many times over. Things don't happen over night in football. I believe what the club is trying to achieve is amazing and they're trying to do it the right way and secure our future.
I for one still have to pinch myself that this is still happening and I'm just happy to watch it all happen. Even in our darkest days I couldn't even have imagined supporting another team and I loved every player, whoever they were and no matter how bad they were, just because they wore the hoops.

So for all you people who are so fickle as to be calling for our managers head, slamming our new captain after only 5 games at the club, get real or support another club.

I'm certainly not, but I am asking the question why we've gone from playing fantastic football, to what I would call relegation form in the last 2 games.
It's what MBs are for, and you shouldn't be telling people on them 'support another club' IMO.
    Not an option<ok>

Forums are for opinions, simple as that!!
I get the impression that Barton has upset the team spirit that looked so prevalent before he joined. I also don't think he's as good a player as I was led to believe prior to him joining us. I hate his constant twatting, sorry tweeting and he's now managed to get NW to play him in the central role and get Adel, our only play-maker, moved to the left or on the bench.

I don't think that people would be so vocal if Warnock didn't say stupid things like "The lads gave 100%" and "great effort" when those of us who were at the match yesterday saw something different.

I don't think that people would be so vocal if Joey Barton didn't spout so much sh|t of twitter.

You can understand players having a bad match or not being good enough at this level, but not for lack of thought or effort. The movement off the ball was dreadful at times, it was as if the players didn't want to get involved in case it went wrong. It is especially galling when some of these players then broadcast to the world that they thought that everything was okay.

Agree completely. This forum is for discussion. OK, some views are more extreme than others but I haven't seen too many of the Warnock Out, Barton Out brigade. At this stage of the season, I just ignore those. After the last two games, we're right to have concerns and I have no problem with anyone voicing them. We're all desperate for the team not to fail in this first season in the Prem...

Got to judge Barton, Warnock at Prem level and the rest over a longer period than the number of games we have had so far, probably to end of season.
My problem with Barton is that I drowned my opinion of him as a person in a sea of hypocrisy on the assumption he was going to be good. If he doesn't deliver on the pitch that leaves me feeling a right t*t.

I agree with you Roller. But I don't see that Barton is creative enough for central attacking midfield. He seems to work and run hard, tackle back and get in good positions. It's hard to tell about a deteriotian in team spirit, emanating from him from a TV screen, I suppose North and Dave are at the games and see it, feel it there. For me yesterday, looking at a box it looked like we all worked hard, but weren't at the creative levels of the Wolves, Newcastle and first half of the Villa games. I'm coming over for Chelsea game and hope and expect at least 100% from everyone. The QPR fans have sounded great on the TV, especially at Fulham and have got a lot of creds from the TV commenattors - yesterday too - so I'm looking forward to being a part of that.
