I can't believe we're allowed to sign players on loan with a view to a permanent. It completely undermines the rules and makes even more of a farce of them.
If loaned out players count against the owning club, it’s logical that loaned in players don’t count against the loaning club. Earlier reports suggested the loan was £500,000. The club owes Allamhouse £42m, is Allamhouse so broke that they can’t find the extra money and put this mistake right? Or is pride and brinkmanship at work here? it’s an admin problem that is affecting the team on the pitch. Never a good sign.
Not hugely different to Chelsea with Pulisic - didn't they sign him and loan him back to Dortmund while they were on a transfer ban but that was fine because they didn't register him in their squad? The rules are pathetic because they can be gamed. Should be a simple test. If it walks like a duck (i.e. is a permanent transfer even if not in name) then it is a duck. A loan with any clauses allowing the club to sign the player permanently should be considered a permanent transfer, but similarly, loans out of the club should be considered to not be in the squad, but would be counted if recalled.
Come to think of it, if we aren't allowed to pay transfer fees, why are we allowed to pay loan fees? Presumably Brighton and Chelsea aren't loaning their players to us for the hell of it, but we aren't allowed to pay a meagre sum to sign Slater?
If anyone wants to hear the full interview with Grant, it's here. Just skip to around 3:30:00 in https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p09nf9lf Looks like it's going to be a busy week, movement both in and out.
It would appear the club doesn't understand the rules of the Embargo anyhow, so maybe his comment is not what the case actually is unless whatever their appeal to the EPL entails is agreed?
Some of us said that right from the start, but were shot down .... 'free' money, any business would do the same, it will have no impact, and other BS. It was already unnecessarily constraining and now we find out about this latest **** up. No point blaming questionnable EFL rules, they are what they are. Let's hope the EFL give some leeway, or its paid back.
Nah Ehab will continue with the loan, because he’s a tw*t. Cost us relegation then cry and use it as an excuse for getting relegated. Cos that’s the sort of idiot he is.
I agree, anything like this needs to be looked at by the legal team and they would then give recommendations, what Lee and or ehab did with that advise is anyone's guess
Oh ffs let's face it, the Allams saw free money and snapped their hand off without a seconds thought. Do any of you really believe such a big 'financially important' decision wasn't put on Ehab's desk?
