Literally took the words from my mouth…. Hand over my left bollock for a 3 at every hole. ( definitely a joke there somewhere lol )
You'd be in illustrious company ! http://www.thewhiskeyjournal.com/tr...ary-golf-game-scoring-28-with-7-holes-in-one/
Ditched the Cannondale Synapse Carbon Fibre - it was making so many creaking noises from the bottom bracket and seat post it was causing me anxiety. Gone with a titanium frame with a sensible 68mm threaded bottom bracket. Went out on it yesterday and it was less traumatising, now I only have to watch out for cars. It also matches my titanium arm please log in to view this image
If I was to get a cheap bike for a bit of exercise What should I get mate? My mate said a hybrid but no idea what that is
Depends what you want to do on it really? If you want something that’ll do a bit of everything, I’d suggest a gravel bike. It’s like a road bike but you can get wider tyres to fit and you can then use it on gravel, tow paths, disused railways, roads etc They’re quite popular at the moment, I have one as well. All 2021 new models have sold out from most manufacturers. So it might be worthwhile scouring the usual places for used bikes. They are about, but you generally have to be quick off the mark. Second hand bikes are selling quickly due to the lack of new bikes available.
Flat bar hybrid, not a bad idea if your centre of Hull, gives you a upright view of traffic, cheaper for parts. Second hand might not be bad if you can find one thats not been used too much / bought with good intention (not nicked) & given up on. Post here if you find one for a second opinion. Mudguards are always a good option.
Which route? I’ve always wanted to do the transpennine trail from Southport to Hornsea. It was my intention to do that route and raise some money for HRI for the department that looked after my Mum in her last days. The car incident has delayed that somewhat, but will do that in the next 18 months I reckon. Need to get my fitness back up and improve my mental fragility around traffic.
If you want a C2C to get your feel good factor back, my favourite so far was the Mallaig to Inverness route. The scenery is just breathtaking around every corner, and not plagued by heavy traffic for the most part either.
That region of Scotland is beautiful. We did the North Coast 500 a few years ago and the scenery was spectacular. Especially up the West Coast and the road from Inverness to Applecross on the Bealach Na Ba. Stunning.
Take your pick, walking's cheaper! Cycling is more efficient than walking, so you'll probably work harder by walking briskly and probably exercise your heart, lungs and major muscles more. On the other hand, cycling is probably less hard on your hips, knees and ankles than walking.
If you genuinely want to use it to get fit then I’d recommend anything with a really heavy steel frame, wide tyres, and slightly buckled wheels that rub on the brakes a couple of times every turn…and maybe cranks that are a bit misaligned and judder round unexpectedly to help build your core strength
