We had the same in the fire brigade, 90% of calls were nothing. Automatic fire alarms ( AFA's ) were the main culprits. But one in ten shouts were an actual incident or a fire. It was great when you turned up to what you thought was a routine incident and when you got there you realised that it wasn't. That was what you were paid to do after all. And the pay was ****.

Mate, I can have weeks where I don’t even take someone to hospital….either leaving everyone at home to see their GP or giving them a pat on the head and telling them they are “really brave”. And then people wonder why we never have an ambulance to send !!!
I think that’s why a lot of us die at an earlier age….we get a call, the adrenaline and stress start flowing ready for what we are gonna face and have to do and there we get there and it’s **** all, leading to us coming crashing down….that sort of thing really isn’t good for us.
As you say, every so often you really do get a call where you are needed and it’s hard sometimes not to get complacent….there lies the danger.

Fun Fact: COVID can be passed, not only through respiration, but also visually through extended eye contact with others. If that doesn’t make sense to you, you are just a science denier.

ManU cancel a pre-season game at Preston due to Covid in their 1st team Squad, found in tests at their Brentford fixture yesterday. Bit worrying for us as we only just played them Saturday. Quite a few pre-season games have already been cancelled due Covid.

NHS Covid Pass added to the NHS app for those who have had both jabs. You can download it to Apple/android wallet on phones to get into places in the U.K. which might eventually ask/be required to ask for proof of vaccination. The data for international travel is still kept with the NHS app.

Update here on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
Just gone into a snap lockdown with a number of overseas arrivals leaking out into the community.

My good wife and l had just hired a caravan and found a nice area west of the Goldie when the lockdown was implemented.

We’re stuck here for four days now.
It’s quite pleasant to be honest.
Cows across the running creek and various kangaroos hopping about.

It will be cold overnight though.

    Hope everyone is ok there.

Just entered limbo…..my son was called by a mate he’d been drinking with on Friday night to say that he had tested positive twice on lateral flow tests. My son’s work (good employer) immediately sent him to get a PCR test done, now he’s back here holed up in his room and we wait up to 72 hours for the results. No symptoms, he’s had one jab, due the next on 14 August. We’ll get him to do a flow test later. If he comes back positive from the PCR we all go into isolation and I miss the Millwall game.

Not the end of the world especially as no actual illness involved, but you can see how this stuff spreads so quickly - if the boy did catch it last Friday he was in busy and crowded places full of people enjoying themselves all Saturday. Irony is he is the only one in my house to have downloaded to COVID app - and he has never been pinged.

Hope this all turns out ok. How long would you have to isolate for?

Apparently ten days, not sure when that starts from, hopefully from when my son was exposed - last Friday, but probably from when he tests positive, if he does. Of course from 16 August we wouldn’t have to isolate at all if double jabbed. Seems a bit contradictory, but there you go.

I’m off out to get the provisions in before we have to circle the wagons……

My son was pinged and told that he had to isolate for 3 days. This was 7 days after the Euros final, so he assumed that this was when he was exposed.

    All a bit random.

if you can still get it and still pass it on why would you not have to isolate to save others who havent been jabbed

Sort of in the same club mate. Was due to go up to Loch Lomond tomorrow but the Mother in law has just had 2 positive lateral flow tests and awaiting her results of a PCR from 5pm today. We had contact yesterday for my sons birthday. Suppose its 10 days for us now too and no trip up north.

The lad has a bit of a headache but he also had a massive weekend on the lash so it might just be general knackeredness, plus confining himself to his room and staring at an iPad all day……

Good luck mate, hopefully we’ll both get the all clear.
