I'm pretty sure we have 7 less players than we did last season.

I think I am missing someone else, we have such a small squad. Plus with purrington out for a bit, Gilbey having had no pre-season, Schwartz again no idea what's going on with him and Forster-Caskey out for a long time. It will be a tough season especially with the business some of the other clubs have done

 

Sandgaard making rash comments when he took over look like they could come back to bite him on the .
It is looking like we are being very 'careful' in the transfer market.

 

The first team on Saturday almost picks itself, but the bench doesn't, and will include untried youngsters. Barker and Henry are good enough IMO, Elerewe is getting rave reviews, but for any others it's a big ask.

 

It's clear the squad is far from complete.
Dreams of early signings and a strong pre-season squad have long since faded away.

Four or five league games will have passed I expect before we have all our late signings and loans.
Probably another three or four games after that until everyone is more or less match fit.

The only thing left to do as far as I can see, is trust in the ability of Nigel Adkins.
He has done it in this league before, several times.

I don't know what's going on behind the scenes.
Problems with potential new investors, the transfer market not working like it usually does... whatever.
We'll never get the whole truth I suppose.

Little to do now except hope we have a decent start, so we are not in the bottom half or bottom third of the table by October.
Then maybe Adkins can weave his magic.

 

With Schwartz looking unlikely to feature we've only got Stockley, Davison and Washington as strikers, although it looks as though Washington is playing as a makeshift left-winger. Famewo must be the only left-footed player in the team? I see this as a problem.

It's always baking hot and sunny.

 

Sunshine & showers methinks today.

First day of the season is always special, like a birthday.
Only comes around once a year.
And last years one was spoiled by Corona and all that worrying about whether TS would be able to take over the Club.

Saying that I do want to get there nice and early!

I’m going for 1-1 today. I think we’ll get an early goal, conceding in the second half for a cagey finish.

 

Hoping to get there early too, chips from the kebab shop before the game, a drink afterwards. Maybe Jacko will come on to curl in a free-kick in stoppage time.
