Still 4 year left in him at a good standard then. And it’s the experienced head we’d need behind an inexperienced back 4 so it’s not exactly like he’s seen as the long term fix.
Taking that with a pinch of salt tbh. sounds like he has told somebody he wants to sign and thats about it. nothing story.
He must be coming 'home' Think about it . . . . if you had a choice of living in Monaco or Sunderland you wouldn't choose Monaco, would you
Fishpaste has posted it as an exclusive and then gone on to say this... This is the kind of stuff RR need to stay away from. They've been great at revealing news that is close to happening recently. This just feels like fans hoping rather than an exclusive. hope I'm wrong - and he has just replied to me saying its not just a rumour. so fingers crossed.
Would ****ing love Don Vito back like! Was a solid reliable keeper for us and would instantly improve our team.
I'd love it to happen but I'm going to assume it's not. It'd be nice to think a player would quit playing for Monaco and join us in L1 for the love of the club but that's not how footballers operate in my experience. You never know though, there could be scope in the plans for a marquee signing to spend a big fee and wages on if it's guaranteed to work out.
He played a quarter of Monaco's league games last season, so whilst he's obviously not first choice, he's clearly also not just a squad filler there like Matthews has become for Palace or Heaton for Man Utd. Just can't see how it happens from either a financial or footballing perspective. But wouldn't it be brilliant.
If it’s true that Vito is keen on it and only a year left on his contract… could be one last hurrah at the club he arguably had the most success at? That’s the blind optimist talking in me anyway haha
