He normally was played where he needed his back to goal and pumped long balls which have to be the only two things a lad of his physicality and football ability is bad at.
It’s sad that we have to discuss who was the worst ever signing!! But we have had some awful signings. I think most of us can excuse players who were not up to it skill wise, it’s the mercenaries who make no effort on or off the field that anger us. The body language and actions of Grigg were always dreadful, you never saw him make much effort or celebrate with the rest of the team, everything was half-hearted at best. Hopefully only at Sunderland for another day or two!!
Alvarez could and should have been a good signing, he was a player him, you could see it and he went back to Italy and did it again for years. Was the deal that was the issue there.
Rumours it’s one of the young Bayern Munich keepers that’s out of contract at the end of the season https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christian-fruchtl/profil/spieler/336307 https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ron-thorben-hoffmann/profil/spieler/317444
obviously we don't know the ins and outs, but it's clear he doesn't fancy it here. We're signing players in his position so he probably thinks the writing is on the wall. Alas that's just guess work on my behalf.
It shouldn't have got this close to the deadline. I hope we aren't holding out for him to sign as cover. Suppose we will know soon enough.
The German keeper rumour is popping up more and more on twitter, not sure if that’s cos it’s been on here or not
Fruchtl was proper rated, then they resigned Ulreich so he’s not getting near the bench. Be interested if it’s him.
