Agreed I think we need to do it unfortunately. I know he's a willing lad but it's not right imo. He'd be a miss but we do have a squad strong enough to crack on without him.
Next time I play golf with my orthopaedic retired quack I will quiz him. His usual advice however, is always avoid surgery unless it is the only option.
It’s a long way to the end of the season with a lot of nasty teams to play. I don’t know much about the injury but does anyone know if there is a danger of irreparable damage? Certainly I think there may be a danger of psychological damage if he continues to play. I’d miss him and his wholehearted and fearless input but I think he should have the operation soon as poss. The physios seem content to keep him playing. Or maybe LJ is waiting for his replacement to get up to speed. Whichever it is, I think it is risky to delay. But then, I’m not a medic so what do I know?
Yep. His footballing ability gets him into situations where he can either take the simple pass/cross or be more ambitious and achieve something more spectacular. At this point his footballing brain is overridden by impulsiveness and he tries for the more spectacular option. A few sessions with a sports therapist or behavioural specialist might do him the world of good. Or, then again, maybe not.
He gets into trouble with his poor first or controlling touch. When a ball is played up to him he often fails to control it well enough, and when a tackle comes in he falls over... but as the ball is not tight he does not get a free kick but still falls over. Yesterday he had a great chance of a goal in the first half, IMHO he should have shot earlier, but took a heavy touch and messed his shot up. I guess not everyone can control the ball like Mcgeady or even Stewart.
Iirc Brian Robson during his time with Manure had the same injury, played for his club and took it into international games, played for a while then eventually had an operation. It's years ago now and medical technology no doubt has moved forward, if we could rely on Evans remaining fit I'd have him operated on asap.
This stupid cow was there, wonder which one she is ... ... only a woman, at a football match, would say they enjoyed the opposition fans celebrating a win against their team
I have been impressed with Dan Neil for a while now. He was the one last season I thought potentially deserved a bit more first team action. Now though he is flourishing and I am minded to think he is with players that wont stifle him in any way, whether that being unable to make clever runs for him to pass to, or berating him if it doesnt come off. He seems to have so many attributes to be a top player. Yesterday when he unleashed that goal something I wanted to see became reality happened. I had been thinking he is a Paul Scholes type of player and that strike cemented that view for me. He is forward thinking always, brilliant passer and now we know he has a strike on him. I am so excited by all the young lads, but to me Neil is the best of all of them. He can be whatever he wants to be and the love he has for our club might see him carry us for another couple of years yet.
We'd have celebrated those two excellent goals, and that win, against any team in this league ... ... some people would rather lose a finger than give us any praise. That's good support for a L1 team by any standards.
He scored with a similar shot in one of last seasons pre season games in which he and Jack Diamond were the stand outs. They brought the best out of Grigg at the time but were never played together again for the rest of that season, and we will never know if that, and sending Embleton out on loan last year was a big mistake or good management. Same goes for Hawkes and Diamond this year, but at least it is an improvement on the treatment handed out to a lot of promising young players coming through our academy post Stockdale.
I've liked O'Nien since he came and he quickly became one of, if not my favourite player. We've had players just going through the motions and pìss takers like Rodwell whom I wouldn't pìss on if on fire. I couldn't believe some of the stick O'Nien got off some fans like on RTG ffs. The lads heart is in it and like Gooch he puts a shift in. And he's a good player and his enthusiasm is a great yardstick for other players. And and and Anyways , like Riggs in lethal weapon, hopefully his dislocation isn't serious, surely he wouldn't be played if it was https://m.koreatimes.co.kr/pages/article.asp?newsIdx=177797
In the long term mate, i think all good decisions. It's like we are building something good now and sometimes you have to make a sacrifice for a long term goal.
What she doesn't understand, like some Wycombe fans etc, is the fact that we are a massive club in their little pond. Now I don't mean to be ostentatious but it's a fact that we are a big club, and no disrespect to Accy or Wycombe etc, and I admire their fans, but good luck to them, though they're hardly going to reach the heights we have achieved or are capable of again. When we get back into the premier League their main talking point will be about winning or drawing against us PS wad
Yeah - One of my mates is an Aldershot fan and he still carps on about how the Shots beat the mighty Sunderland at the Rec. - it was only 33 years ago.
According to that it looks like onions injury is a traumatic dislocation which can cause further damage. I’m surprised the clubs medical team allow him to play.
