    So according to Dr Google

If Dislocated ankle- 6-8 weeks before being allowed to properly walk on it and probably another month before running. So around 3 months before light traning, overall about 5-6 months before playing again.

If Broken ankle- 6-10 weeks before the bone heals and months before being able to play. Overall next season before playing again.

So lets hope its a dislocation and not a break.

Doesn't seem a lot of difference to me. A brake would probably heal better, a dislocation would be damaged ligaments too which would be suspect in the future.

Dislocation means that there is no time lost to mending bones.

Also broken ankles and feet never heal properly

Looking at all the medical websites on both, it does seem that a dislocation is better in terms of recovery time. 12 weeks does seem to be the average for someone to start light running again even if surgery is required.
Where as Broken ankles seem to suggest that after the bone has healed (about 10 weeks) it still take months before someone can run.

Surely it would be dislocated ankle or broken leg rather than ankle?

I read some place today that you have to break something or tear something to do it so I am a bit lost with this one tbh.

I do remember Redknapp coming back off his first broken ankle and he basically wasnt right at all and it broke really easy.

Theses days they put in pins and all sorts dont they?

Who knows until someone does an interview is suppose?

The one I read was some lad chatting on about watching the medical staff and said he was really happy seeing the gas thing and them putting it back in place right away as that helps the soft tissue but he did say about breaking something so god knows.

Given they let him out of leeds would it suggest not broken?

Obviously but it looked more like a leg break just above the ankle to me.

What I meant was a broken leg would offer the best recovery. Obviously different if it's definitely the ankle.

Well Broken leg (as in proper break) anywhere from 8 weeks to 6 months. Depending on how damaged the bone is.

A clean break without breaking the skin, is on the quicker end. A shattered bone is probably the worst, more bits to fuse back together.

But the word seems to be its ankle and probably a dislocation, with reports they popped it back in on the pitch.

    Confirmed as a Fracture dislocation.
    Surgery done.

6 weeks for the fracture to heal. 4-6 months for a return to action.

But I think he's out for the Palace game though? Probably wouldn't have played anyway, but if he can play like last night he's at least an option again.
