Could have done with him for the free kick, but Redmonds crosses today were actually better than any of Prowses so far this season. Diallo’s movement was also an added bonus to the team today. Although this was probably the easiest opponent of this season so we will see how it works in the next two games.
Yeah I don't think we miss Prowsie in open play all that much. Depends on the opposition I suppose, interested to see how it goes against Burnley next week.
Before the goal, I had Tella above Theo in my pecking order of subs. But once we took the lead - and particularly as the game went deeper and deeper - Theo went ahead of him. For the reasons you say.
Broja on scoring on his premier league full debut - I have been dreaming of this moment since I was a kid. Such potential, can't see Chelsea letting him go. Let's make the most of him. Exciting player, just what we need right now. Says, The older players Try and help younger players, so it's just like a massive family. And that's why we love the saints.
So, when the ultra-rich Newcastle owners come calling in January, we can happily sell JWP for an obscene amount, and keep winning without him. Sorted.
I think the best hope for us re Broja is that he still isn’t in line for Chelsea’s first team next season so we get him on loan for a second season. Of course I say that after 1 goal, but I really do think he looks like something special in the making.
First win, thank **** for that. Didn’t see it so can’t really comment on how poor Leeds were, all I care about are 3 points and scoring from open play. Interesting to see Redmond played a blinder, I thought he was poor against wet spam. Good for him. Ive been saying our attacking players are class and will come good…
I just don't get it. We won. Surely the result vindicates Ralph's decision? Yeah if we ****ed it up today, criticise till your hearts content, but we didn't. What's to moan about?
Because no performance is ever perfect. You can win 100-0 and you should be trying to identify what you didn’t do well and where you can improve. We were very dominant today, but still hardly created many chances (in fact the only real chance I can remember was the Broja headers from corners in the first half and Djenepo passing it to the keeper). That is still a cause for concern that even against a team that were truly awful thats all we could come up with. Happy for the win etc but let’s not kid ourselves that we can’t improve
But we had 3 really clear chances, one we scored from. If Broja had passed to Redmond rather than shoot in the 2nd half we would have had another clear chance. We created a lot more today. Yes, still room for improvement like you say but we certainly are on that road after today.
We won’t play a worse team this season than the performance Leeds put in today, so to only create 3 in that is concerning to me. Enjoy the win and hopefully this is the start of a good run with some more winnable games coming up
There is some truth to that, but they were also very poor when we were letting them play a bit. The amount of misplaced passes when not under any pressure was ridiculous for a PL side.
True but that first win is always the hardest to get when you go 7 games without a win at the start of the season. Hopefully this will release a lot of the pressure that had been building up.
They have predictably gone down the route that we are actually the **** team as they were missing so many players any good team would win by 5
Chelsea has sold a dizzying array of attacking talent over the years because they lack the patience to let players develop. They might not sell him in the summer, but I wouldn't be remotely surprised if they did, either, and I'd guess that the odds of that are significantly higher than the odds of them actually using him next season.
This is the JWP paradox. He's a very good player, of that I have no doubt. I still don't know whether he's a great fit for the way we like to play, especially as half of a midfield two.
