I hope Leeds fans can now see why I have been championing Joffy for so long. He is on a different planet to Roberts who yet again was shyt. Joffy had half an hour this time, made the keeper pull off a great save, scared the defence to death, could maybe have scored and then created the penalty and even after that went close with another shot on the run through the defence. More action in the box with him on the pitch than the last 2 games combined. He even tackles back and wins balls and puts Dan James through. Tyler managed to pass the ball into touch a few times. Also thought Rodrigo worked his ass off with no ball from any of the 3 wingers on the pitch and a great penalty. He will go on a run now. we played well with a lot of left tit
Yes we should have had all 3 points today, we deserved it but we took a point we never got last season against this team, so a point bonus in real terms. That was not the performance of a team in danger, we just battered a team who were going for 4 wins on the bounce and we had half a dozen first teamers out. Roberts will be out on loan in January
Rodrigo is a good player but fat better with a partner. Next week leeds utd will play four four bloody two.
Bielsa says Rodrigo changed the game and was Leeds most important player. He dropped deep in the last half hour and even took control of the penalty The Spaniard took three shots, played five key passed, had a pass accuracy of 69%, took 56 touches, attempted three dribbles, made three tackles, two interceptions and one clearance, and put in eight crosses. The headlines tonight and tomorrow will be the cameo performance from Joe Gelhardt. And indeed Gelhardt was brilliant on his home debut for Leeds in the Premier League. But we should not forget Rodrigo’s contribution.
YEP have Rodrigo rated 8, Summerville 8 and Gelhardt 8 so great stuff from 2 young subs to make that impact the rest of the team were mainly 7s except Harrison and James on 5/6
Did anyone see the interview with Gelhardt after the game? Played 30 minutes and looked exhausted, the step up from the U23s. Maybe that’s why Marcelo is introducing him slowly and he actually knows what he’s doing.
Only playing for 30mins means he doesn't have to pace himself, probably why he was tired. Seems Raphinas injury is not as bad as it looked.
I know Lineker and Keown can takk bollox at times but comparing him to Messi on MotD is a bit much. Course emptyhead Jennas didnt agree, but what Inwill say is that Joffy has great close ball control and in the box makes stuff happen and he wins loads if penalties because you cannot stop him. https://motleedsnews.com/news/keown...-gelhardts-performance-in-leeds-1-1-v-wolves/
I dont need to big him up anymore so will now keep quiet about him as everyone else can now see what we have. But his goals for us last season are all types and from anywhere. Take a look at what he did last season and remember that Sam Greenwood took more penalties than Joe and even Summerville took some too, so Joes goals are not all pens
In non Gelhardt news it looks likely that Leeds Utd will buy its first overseas club in the next couple of months. Not sure what the new group will be called yet, but could be Leeds Football Group (LFG) Seria A side Salernitano were high on Radz list last summer but an owner who was in the shyt refused to sell for around €50m and wanted €70m. The owner was forced by Italian law to sell the club and pay its debts, but he hung on and was forced to put the club into a “Trust” type limbo whereby the owner can do nothing with the club and must stay away. The Salernitano fans are begging Radz to bail them out as all they see is relegation this season and so far they are rock bottom. Radz though it seems has had enough of dealing with the owner of Salernitano and seems to have gone for the club he tried to buy a couple of seasons ago. A very much more fashionable club with a big history Palermo, in Scicily. Palermo were relegated from Seria A back in 2017 and dropped down to the third tier, but the club with a new leader and backing can be back at the top table soon. Radz knows all about this club and when we were promoted Radz said he would try and get Edinson Cavani if you remember, well thats all because it was Palermo who brought Cavani to Italy and brought him on and they also dod the same Paolo Dyballa. Palermo looks like being a goer and Radz has one of his right hand men based in Sicily full time at the moment, his man Mannucci is trying to put a deal together. Italian tours loan players between clubs, academy coaching and swapping kids to further there football…..
And another bloody thing: This season we all know we have had at least 2 but probably 3 nailed on penalties not even looked at by VAR. We also know that there were at least 2 vicious tackles where the player should have been sent off but either given a yellow or left unpunished. Yesterday even the MotD pundits agreed that Saiss should have been shown a red for his blatant assault on Raphinha. He got a yellow but not for the tackle but for handball. It seems we are having to fight refs and VAR this season on top of injuries, so lets hope what goes around comes around as they say, because we deserve better
Var and the ref’s really wind me up I just wish now and again senior Bielsa would say what I am sure he really thinks about some of these decisions
Looks like Raphinha is in trouble with the Premier League for his post on social media where he says (tongue in cheek’ best referees are in the prem. hes obviously peed off because Struijk got a straight red for much less than the attack on Rapha. He may even get a ban which is great from the shyt organisation. Fans on Phil Hays timeline going mental about lack of VAR and crap refs this season giving us nothing
Media reports now publishing the Palermo link Back in the summer, Radrizzani was heavily linked with a move to buy newly promoted Serie A side Salernitana. Ultimately though, no deal materialised, although it seems the Leeds owner has not given up his ambition to purchase a club in Italy just yet. According to this latest update, Radrizzani is now looking into a potential deal to take over at Palermo. It is thought that the Leeds supremo has sent one of his close partners, Sandro Mencucci, to Italy to hold talks with Palermo president Dario Mirri, who is a friend of Radrizzani’s. Palermo currently sit sixth in one of the three 20-team groups that make up Italy’s third-tier, and with the club in a perilous financial position, a takeover is expected to happen before the end of the year. As a result, the presence of a Leeds board member in Mencucci is said to be an indicator of how a deal could materialise, with the Whites potentially set to become part of a growing network of clubs.
