Gooch is one of the most frustrating footballers I’ve ever seen. still not sure either way on Johnson. Just can’t get my head around what’s gone on. It’s like when you play on football manager and you start the season with a cheat tactic and then the system cracks it and you turn to utter dogshit overnight.
reet, caught up with the comments so far and cannot find anything to really argue against...the one time we started to show a threat was gooch further upfield on the left, younger giving him the ball with pritchard and dajaku alternating. why did gooch go on the right as he is as much a waste there as in defence, pritchard had a much better 2nd half i thought (still needs to pick it up, too similar to gooch in the fact they both try various things but ffs at least one or two need to come off), overall our passing was/is abysmal any time we try to kick it more than 10 yards, one or two exceptions in a whole game does not make it a viable tactic i'm afraid. really wanted to see a more solid defence tonight but gooch being there made it a non starter younger again the stand out, young sonha did nowt that i can remember, struggling to think of him getting a touch, was a big chance for the lad...other young lads did well considering and harris was damned unlucky to see his header kept out. nothing to make me think that team/squad are fighting for places or the manager to keep his job, no real care in passing and first half nobody was interested at throw ins...whatever it is (and i am now convinced there is something going on) needs sorting asap or LJ has to be replaced simply because this cannot continue.
Sohna is like that imo. a prospect maybe but Dyce offers far more atm, and Wearne is better than both put together.
As with all of the games recently (Rotherham aside), we came out on top in pretty much all of the measurable statistics, apart from goals. Suggests we're not playing as badly as some would like to make out and that this can be turned round. https://www.bradfordcityafc.com/ont...ber/sunderland-vs-bradford-city-on-09-nov-21/
3/5/2 would have been a far better bet to win this, and made selection easier but no same again Johnson cant see past his nose.
Well, that was awful. Marginally better second half than the first in which we were shocking. Good finish from Broadhead and Younger did OK. Gooch and Pritchard were terrible.
Watching our players when we lost the ball is horrendous. No shape at all like watching a kids game. League 2 team strolling through with little challenge. Is that the players or the Manager. To me the managers tactics are awful leaves us wide open and it looks like the players think the same and have lost faith. At the very least we need a defensive coach to organise things when we don't have the ball. Remember Allardyce saying when he takes over a club low on confidence. First thing he does is simplify things so everyone knows what their jobs are when they don't have the ball. Stop the opposition playing and build a platform to play your game. We pass the ball around fine without really creating anything but when we lose the ball we are a shambles. Midfield all over the place defense immediately under pressure.
Didnt see Mansfield but watched tonight with interest. Overall a really poor performance I thought. Not any real bright spots for me. Lots of individual errors and at times positional play when out of possession that is head scratching. Again not so much a formation issue as individuals not doing their job. Gooch and O'Nien look miles out of form, and Gooch has been for a long time. Pritchard was poor again, perhaps a bit better second half but not enough. Embleton looks off the boil a bit too. Dajaku struggling. Organisation at the back looked non existent but two young centre halves who arguably didnt get much help. Broadhead did ok, and took the goal well. Still quite raw in my opinion. Probably the one from tonight who has earned his place for the next game. Whether Johnson survives or not the next 2 days will probably be key. They will make a call tomorrow in my opinion if they are going to. I thought they would do it after Mansfield but maybe they wanted this game out of the way. I am perhaps in an increasing minority but I would stick still. I do fear though that whatever he does from here there are fans who will simply wait to get on his back. He could win 6 on the spin and I doubt it would be enough to turn opinion.
Can't see his comments going down well. "Second half really good" and "a lot of positives". Hmm, not sure about that at all.
It does and behind the scenes I'm convinced the club is being transformed and moving in the right direction. But unfortunately the first team Project on the pitch is going backwards rapidly.
