Highbury was not the loudest but was unique, plus all i was stating about was the ground in general not the atmosphere.
However talking about atmosphere i liked going to the old den horrible ground but a proper atmosphere

This, liked Villa, esp Holte End exterior. Wolves was dull as out. Man city, wigan both boring. Liverpools ok but not up to hype. Blackburn not bad either.

It's odd, but the "**** holes" are often the grounds that I prefer.

When we were in the CCC I felt much more at home at grounds like Ashton gate than I did at stadiums like the Madjeski. I'm not sure if it's the history that's been witnessed within the grounds, but the same applied for Eastlands and Elland Road last season and this pre-season. Yes, Elland Road looked like it hadn't been touched since the 70's, but at least it's got some character. Eastlands had all the facilities I could ever want, but it's just, well, dull.

I just need a little bit o' soul

Great seats in the Emirates, pity we don't get the chance to use them.

Don't think that's odd at all, mate. Quite surprised by people bemoaning the older grounds for being decrepit. Goodison is comfortably my favourite away ground. Love how close it is to the terrace housing, love the wooden floors and seats, love everything about it. A throwback to a time I never got to experience.

Give me that over the identikit bowls that most clubs play in now. Dull, sterile and atmosphereless. Darlington is the absolute worst, a self-inflicted chain around the neck of that football club. Horrid.

I remember the first away game i went to was at Highfield road in about 98. I couldn't believe how close it was to the houses, the whole area was buzzing. And then you get to somewhere like the Rhico now and it's dead, no personality at all.

I'd say that's more having a team like Coventry playing in it...tends to drive the fans away; both of them!

I was disappointed with anfield it was tiny! It was a right **** hole as well. Also the 'famous kop' are just a myth like our gallowgate end. At anfiled the atmosphere from the home fans was non existent. I was impressed with elland road it had a nice feel and they seemed to be upgrading one of the stands. The Hawthorns was as dire as you'd expect it to be. The area it is situated in is probably one of the worst places I've ever seen, it made the pennywell slums look like paradise. Darlington had a nice stadium for a club of there stature but nothing special. Wigan's is nice and in a very nice and friendly area but it's tiny. The riverside is probably the worst of the lot though the area, the stadium, the people, everything about the place is horrible. I've only ever been to one stadium that I would say is better than St James Park and that was the Nou Camp!

Scunthorpe, love the little old grounds and the atmosphere was bouncing, especially after Ryan Taylor free kick that we'd been chanting about all match and the Sammy goal was the icing on the cake! Not in a bad location, despite getting kicked out the pub before the match haha

Agree 100%, can't wait to go to Everton last game of the season :D
Darlo's ground was such a waste of money, that in some ways began their downwards spiral. Should've stayed put.

Goodison and Anfield are both ****holes, wooden seats at Goodison and you can only see 2/3 or the pitch in the away end at Anfield. I think SoS is **** as well, considering it is a new stadium there is no excuse for those tiny bar areas and narrow staircases. Plus the surrounding area is pretty desperate. Pride Park was one of my favourite stadiums, I think Old Trafford was canny too but can't remember. Wembley is the best I've been to by miles and miles.

Stoke has a decent stadium, I think the home fans there make it a good experience though you are right it has just been plonked onto a mud hill next to the main road and a travel lodge. I think most of the newer stadiums are all very boring (Reading, Wigan, Stadium of light etc), I haven't been to the Man City Stadium.
St James' park is a fantastic stadium, Anfield is an old Stadium, if you go on the tour you will see the old decor and carpets but you know us, it's all about the history! Mostly these days I only get to go to Cat B/C games and the atmosphere is dire compared to a few years ago. The best atmosphere I ever experienced at Anfield was the 2007 CL semi final vs Chelsea. Best experience in an away game was probably at the SoS last season, or if you count the Millenium Stadium in the '06 FA Cup final that is a cracking stadium! <ok>

I like the older grounds i.e. Goodison, Villa Park. At least they have some soul. Hate the like of the Emirates, Abu Dhabi Sheik Moneybags Stadium II etc etc; they are generic bowls. That's why I love our ground, it's unique.

So in other words, you tend to like the **** new stadiums with no atmosphere and dislike the old ones which have some character to them?
