Can't remember calling him Arthur.... perhaps after Arthur Daley? ..... anyway I remember the song Ship, Ship ... Shipperley (we weren't very original in those days) and the nickname Lurch but sorry not Arthur?

 

I've been looking through the tributes to him but can't find any reference to this particular nickname. But that's what we used to call him in the SE quadrant, and that's how I still think of him. Mind you we were a funny lot, each with their own regular crush barrier.
