Trouble is, if he was up for sale, it’ll be a free for all & even with our new owners, I’m not sure we’d win. I can’t really see Chelsea doing us any favours that route but an extra season long loan may suit all 3x parties. We get a great forward; Borja gets 1st team football & improves further; his valuation increases which benefits Chelsea.
Completely forgot about that. No small irony in getting forced into playing the kids, having it result in you discovering half of a first eleven capable of reaching CL in your reserves, and thinking "whew, thank goodness that nightmare is over, back to business as usual".
Yes the desperation of buying a Carillio type. Don’t forget we paid £20m for that “quality”. At least with Wood they know exactly what they’re getting. Get him & tweak the defence & they’ll have a good chance of catching Burnley & Watford. Hope not but ….
I have to admit I would be astonished if we managed to get him permanently, but I don’t think it is impossible that we could extend his stay. I reckon he could be in for a ‘Ings 19/20’ season if he stays and gets another full season of first team football, let’s hope we at least get another year on loan.
And surely a no brainer for Chelsea . He isn’t going to develop anywhere near as well if he is a fringe player for them next season He still has a long contract so even if after a full season they still don’t think he is good enough (or they have signed Haaland or Lukaku has caught fire etc) then they can still sell him for good money Would be nice to at least have a first option after a second loan if that was the route. Not that we’d be able to afford it but it will still be nice
If Chelsea had assurances that he was going to start every week in a system he knows and with a manager with whom he has a healthy relationship, then I don't see why they wouldn't loan him out for another year. It'll only grow his value for them, regardless of whether they eventually sell or not.
One thing that is certain is that he is going to be a very special player and we should cherish the time that he is here. If we manage to get him back next season i'll be delighted but I can see him starting for a top 6 club in the next 18 months.
I just hope that Chelsea don’t ruin him by taking him back and giving him a handful of sub and cup appearances I don’t see how that is in their interest Chelsea fans are adamant that he will be back but that is likely just fan talk. Dangle a new signing instead and they’d likely get distracted. They also aren’t looking at the finances to realise they can’t really have the wages of Lukaku, Werner and Havertz going out of the door with all of them on the bench
I can see Lukaku not being there for much longer and Werner could follow as he's not pulled up any trees there.
I’d be more inclined to try Lyanco there. He certainly has good ball control / flair which might not be so dangerous in the back line?
Who is going to take on Lukaku’s wages and pay a large enough fee? He wanted Bayern, PSG or one of the Spanish Giants. The answer is still “no” on all of those
I quite enjoy that we show gorilla glue adverts on the hoardings in the stadium now. Just need to get some scorpion related advert in next for the Scorpion King.
Rubbish jurno in Birmingham mail reporting that JWP is off to villa with them renewing their interest from the summer.. where do they get their insight from ....
Would love to see Villa finances, I live in the Midlands and everyone can’t believe their level of expenditure both on wages and transfers which are about £100-150m a year
