Football is all about money. You're guaranteed to get nowhere without it ... ... but not bound to get anywhere by spending loads of it. Everton are the current example of how you can write endless cheques and end up with a shambles of a squad and a caretaker manager. The Saudis are capricious people and a relegation, plus wasted millions, could see them lose interest in the club. Whatever the case they'll win nothing for ten years imo.
I tend to agree. However you never know in this game. They were getting laughed at when reports came out that Howe would get 50 million to spend in January, "haha is that it"? etc, when in reality they've spent a reported 36 million on two players already, had a close to 40 million excepted for Hazard, and bids in for 2 others. We will just have to wait and see Mr Smug.
That's what it might look like. But, it's very clear that their current ability to operate within FFP rules and still spend wildly cannot last in even the medium term. IMO the FFP rules will be enforced with greater rigour in the future. It is the clubs who make the rules, and eighteen of them see it this way, as was seen with the speed they introduced bew regs regarding sponsorship. Thats without thinking about Everton and Arsenal, who have spent well over a billion quid between them, from a much better starting position, to go backwards.

This will happen relatively quickly I think. I also think it will happen at Citeh when they win the Champions League. It will be a case of 'ive had my fun, see ya later'. I'm surprised Abramovich is still at Chelsea tbh given they have won the lot.

Quite right, the current owners of the big 6 simply won't 'allow' another mouth to be fed at the top table. The status quo is set. Correct on Roman, at least he has a passion for it but for how long I wonder. And where would Chelsea look for 'new' money.
Might look like that at first glance, but some of their bids include crazy add-ons like winning the Champions League which aren’t realistic. They will have a budget but want to be seen to be spending daft amounts.
These transfer fees have to be taken with a spade full of salt ... ... there's not a chance Ashley posted a £40m cheque off for Joelinton.
