On your last point, one match doesn’t make a season otherwise what happened against Stoke? But to give him credit, yes I was impressed by the Blackburn game

In terms of the relegation, budget or not I’d expect any manager worth anything to realise that digging in and trying to grind something out was a better alternative than sticking to a plan that clearly wasn’t working.

What were the extenuating circumstances that we were going through that other clubs in the same position weren’t?

My problem with McCann is I’m not sure he deals well with pressure. If things are going ok, he’s acceptable. If things are going against him I don’t think he knows how to bail himself out, he just digs in deeper.

The biggest example of that is of course the relegation season but we also saw elements in the promotion too and definitely at the start of this season.

You’re correct about the budget, it’s low (although it wasn’t for League 1). But he knew that when he came here, you have to work with it and in my eyes he’s not skilled enough to consistently bat above his average.

Why is it? I wasn’t saying he was a poor manager because of his attitude, I was saying it doesn’t help when he’s under pressure.

Like it or not, if you are losing and your attitude is defensive or argumentative, it’s going to get the fans backs up and dial up the pressure.

The game is played by the players, not the fans. And I guarantee the players couldn’t give a **** if the manager doesn’t answer a journalist’s question in slightly prickly terms. Because they will know the behind the scenes reasons for that prickliness.

Again, that’s not my point. I’m saying I thing McCann makes poorer decisions when he’s under pressure, which he invites on himself.

Nothing to do with the players.

But last season he exceeded the budget and he's continuing to do it this season.

He also did it before Ehab sold his best players and failed to adequately replace them. He's outperformed the budget more than he's underperformed

Do you an analysis of unsatisfactory remarks to radio journalists, and the result in the next game? I’d like to see it.

It was a weird point to make as Grant and the players always seem to come back swinging. They don't know when they're beaten. We were dreadful against Stoke, I thought it was the end for Grant (not for the first time) and the lads came out swinging against Blackburn, refused to give in, worked their bollocks off against a much better side and got the win.

I'm not pretending he doesn't make mistakes, but considering how this season has turned out with the injuries, the transfer embargo etc, we've done great to be 7 points above the bottom 3. Everyone deserves credit. I think with a few decent additions/goalscorers we could start to put some wins together

The only players acquired from lower league clubs haven't lasted long and have gone back from whence they came.

It was just an example, but we did perform poorly for a few games after that Swansea interview, yes. It’s my perception of McCann, if you don’t share it fair enough.

Look, I’m not saying he NEEDS to be sacked instantly and he’s done a terrible job. I am saying that in my eyes saying he’s been ‘steady’ massively overlooks some of the very poor runs of matches, including a relegation that another manager could have halted just by reading the form book a bit more.

There's an awful lot of capital being taken from Wednesday night's result after the Stoke abomination. We should have conceded a penalty at 1-0 aup and the second should have been disallowed. Result could have been so different. A lot of posters are praising McCann for turning it round. Who was the manager for the Stoke game? We are on a bad run in the league if you look past Blackburn game. Cup performance is irrelevant as we are out anyway, plus it was no more than a distraction. McCann is a horrible manager and always will be out. Out!

Horrible managers don't tend to win league titles and have champ teams knocking on the play offs, he's made mistakes and has been stubborn. But last season his stubbornness won us the league. This season he's currently got us 7pts above the drop zone. With the squad he has at his disposal, where would you honestly expect us to be at this stage of the season?. he's not going to be a top top manager but labeling him a horrible manager is disrespectful imo.

He took a team from the play offs down to the drop zone quicker than lead can drop. He righted that to some degree by getting us back up. We wouldn't have needed a promotion had he not been quite so abject the season before. We are far from safety. He's as stubborn as a mule and has ended up with a system and formation that everyone knew worked but he refused to use. It was only when injuries and Coyle's suspension kicked in that he was forced to change. You might think I'm harsh but that's my opinion of him. It's all irrelevant any way because he'll be gone by this time next week.

He's hidden behind the 'extenuating circumstances' line for a while without spelling out the unique circumstances with the club. His attitude to being interviewed by the BBC just stinks. He says he wants to be accountable to the public and refused to speak to Burnsy. He's never been accountable to anybody.

I was behind the goal south stand that game and I remember one absolutely out of this world stop from Pickford, couldn’t believe it, think it was possibly Niasse from 2 yards out, how the hell Pickford stopped it, I’ll never know.

    IMO there are 2 situations.

    1. McCann IMO is not a coach that would take us forward and be good enough to get us out of this division, which Acun is clearly hoping for. So in the short term, I think he will be gone.

    2. At present there is no doubt he has the current players backing and has a group that is together. To suddenly change that at this stage I feel would be
foolhardy and would probably do more harm than good.

Therefore, I would keep him for the time being, see how things go, ideally see the season out and then have the summer to make the necessary changes.

We’d be 3 points above the bottom three, not 7, and in 21st if you adjust for the points deductions of Derby and Reading.

Question: how do we know we had the lowest budget?

I really like this it’s a cracking description of what he’s had to deal with and his abilities . His style of football is pleasing and I think with more quality it would be or have been good to see what he could do . His stubbornness has been his problem but if Ehab dictated the formation then like most of us you go as your boss tells you
