Considerably more level headed than the lunatic who wrote that blog piece Not sure how he got that Hassenhuttl didn’t agree to him from that Reddit screenshot (might be more than that). Because all that said is that the scouts recommended him and the implication being Hassenhuttl didn’t know much about him. I imagine that is true of most signings ?
I doubt we could buy Broja or he would choose us as his next move, but it would be good if his loan could be extended. Not going to happen either...just straw clutching
There’s a chance. Perhaps the club were initially more hopeful hence the tweets etc, getting everyone’s hopes up. Fingers crossed really.
It might well come down to whether West Ham are prepared to put in a buy back clause. I’d suggest the answer there is more likely to be “No” than “Yes”
I don’t think Chelsea will care too much either way. Not like either of us are going to be seriously challenging them any time soon. They sold West Ham Zouma in the summer who is arguably now West Ham’s best player so they don’t seem too fussed. It will come down to which club offers more money, and we are as yet in the dark about the new owners and how much they are willing to spend.
The new owners are the straw I think. If both us and West Ham offer the same amount then hopefully he would choose to stay here. If we outbid West Ham then we are huge favourites. From what’s been said so far it sounds like the club strategy/ethos hasn’t changed with signing young players and developing them etc. It’s apparently that we now have more money to do it with. Does “more money” mean £20m+ on someone like Broja who you’d hope we could make a profit on down the line is what remains to be seen.
We have the advantage if we can get a permanent deal over the line in January?, West Ham can't bid until the summer by the looks of it.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/60018970 Nothing new, but I can see a 'bigger' club grabbing him at the end of the season
Mors than likely yeah. It does feel like now or never, and the hopes of now appear very slim - I think the only 2 scenarios which could mean we keep him are: 1. Chelsea want to sell and Broja decides that he is settled on the South Coast and that, as we have developed him so well in the past year, he decides we are the best place for him iver other clubs, even if they offered more money/greater chance of europe. I consider this relatively unlikely as we all know what 99% of footballers choose in this situation - glimmer of hope that his family do indeed see Saints as the smart move for his long term career and advise him to stay. 2. Chelsea & Tuchel take a look at him pre-season and decide that he could well be the real deal but not quite yet. So they decide to loan him out again, in which case we would be the most likely club to win his loan signature. Again, this is unlikely as it has been reported Broja wants to settle somewhere permanently.
