That's exactly what I would be thinking if I was him, I bet there are loads of MLS clubs that would take him and he'd be class out there.
I would keep mcGeady like, especially if we're signing Defoe. They're both such clever, experienced players. Think on how many chances AM put on a plate for Charlie Wyke, then imagine him having a player in the box like JD to look for. A partnership like that, especially late in the game, will cause havoc to a tired defence, in the latter stages of the season. No brainer for me, if we need to offload I hope it's AOB and/or Gooch.
Agree - I understand that it has to be right for both sides but a little bit of me thought this would have been a great lift to the club. Having said that if we were signing any other 39 year old we would think the management were barmy. Nostalgia plays a great part
Is there a solid plan b for a striker ? Plan A possibly if Defoe is B ie May we have dropped our because we have our main target ?
anyone else starting to think defoe is on a bit of a wind up here? a few red herrings being thrown in then a picture outside an essex deli...my guess is whatever the deal it is already sorted whether he is coming back or not, meanwhile the club are looking at other options that were in the pipeline just to soften the blow.
I think that post from JD probably tells you everything you need to know, in my opinion. I very much doubt he's already signed with us or is about to, otherwise he'd be up here, and either training, or discussing terms.
I don't think we should be signing Defoe anyway. But such is the ridiculous sentimental clamour for his signing, its now going to end in negativity towards the club at a time where we really need to get together for the final push.
