Simply a sublime signing for them. Could play for the big six easily imo. Intriguing to see how he gets on.
Hmm, I’m a bit sceptical. Why’s he signed for Newcastle in the closing days of the window if he’s that good…? Nobody has ever gone in for him. The agents who look after him have been relentlessly touting him (to clubs and journalists) on WhatsApp since the summer and leaking every detail of this deal to the media to desperately drum up better interest… and not one big six club or truly elite European side has bitten. Not saying he’s crap or won’t be good for them but maybe we need to pump the brakes a little bit and see how he goes. Maybe Newcastle have flown in under the radar and snatched a great one, but if they still go down he won’t be hanging around.
Arsenal have been desperate for a central midfielder since the summer and linked with him as well. And they haven’t got him. They seem to be closer to “no one” than getting him Not exactly a wringing endorsement But perhaps it is just the agent thing - he has gone to the place that will give the agents the biggest cut
True that’s why it’s interesting to see how it pans out… I have watched a couple of games of his 90 mins and was impressed, purely because he captained my FM saints team to champions league glory
Jose Fonte captained Lille to the ligue 1 championship last season. Says it all about French football.
What does that say about West Ham's management, given that you probably have the highest concentration of French players on your roster? Areola, Zouma, Diop, Zouma, Benrahma, Masuaku...you have more French players than you do English.
This is intriguing. I’m not sure whether we just want the squad filled due to covid or whether this squad spot is one we will legitimately be looking to fill next season Because who could we get in to be 4th choice striker (even with a front two being used semi regularly). Or will it be a promotion from within? There are some promising names but are they ready? And I’m not sure any are a hold up type forward
So the faint faint hope of two permanent Chelsea deals has very quickly turned into “nothing to see here” for this window at least - Broja stays on loan and the other guy doesn’t come in. If avoiding relegation is the trigger then nothing can change on that front in the next 3 days unless three teams near the bottom are suddenly handed points deductions that apply to this season - which doesn’t happen They seem averse to a permanent sale of Anjorin (and potentially Broja as well) as the scenario sounds like that hopefully we can sign Broja on a permanent in the summer if we stay up and Anjorin takes the Chelsea loan slot.
It would seem Ralph isn’t interested as he sees a point of Shane’s squad role (he is still on the bench with a pretty much fully fit squad) Hence my musings above regarding when his contract expires and what happens with said squad role
His contract is finally up in the summer right? Slightly surprised we don't take something for him rather than nothing, but guess having the extra body during covid times is more valuable to us than a few quid. Not to mention he showed that he can still occasionaly do good things when he came on to save the day in the cup recently.
