Dreadful this mind.... Compare this 80 year old music "royalty" tonight, to relative newcomer, 20 year old Billie Eilish last night...no comparison. Time to call it a day I think. Painful.
Naaah nah nah, nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah nah, KEANO!! Naaah nah nah, nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah nah, KEANO!! *repeat*
I feel a bit of a twat now mind... since I posted that it's been a lot better. It's not live, it's on an hour delay (he came on at 9.30pm), and the sound was terrible....as though the vocals had been turned down. Not sure if it's a BBC thing, or badly mixed at source, but something was definately wrong with the vocals early on. Last hour or so has been canny, and tbf, for an 80 year old he's putting on a good show. Billie Eilish was superb last night mind, and that's from someone whose never listened to her before.
A terrible idea from the start tbh. He was never an impressive performer, on his own, and just looks like a pissed up tribute act.
Just trying to catch up on iplayer, must be getting old, it’s dire, wouldn’t watch these bands if they playing in my garden.
Well! Paul McCartney sure has divided opinions on here. I enjoyed it for what it was, an 80 year old jamming with his mates in front of thousands for over 2hours without a break and multi intrustments. I would have some of that at 80 god willing. There were plenty of artists yesterday who will have nowhere near that musical life span.
Eilish put me off with her first Glastonbury performance where she clearly mimed all of it. Haven't bothered with her since.
TBH that's my problem with the whole concept. I want to remember artists in their prime or, at least, while they're still relevant. I took Mrs Smug to see Rod Stewart recently and I found that a bit creepy as well ... ... especially during 'Tonight's the night' which is about taking a young girl's virginity
Thought Noel and Haim were both class yday. Noels vocals are incredible TBF. Dead in the water is a masterpiece. Haim always make a massive racket and are tight as feck. Still blown away by that Jamie T set. Unreal. Clearly off his face but loved every minute.
Olivia Rodrigo with Lilly Allen telling the supreme court to f u was amazing too. Proper Glastonbury moment.
