Wonder if Erik and Scum will need a result against Brentford at the end of the season to stay up? We managed it.
Just looked at the league table again - for the 132nd time today. Us in 4th, but the best bit of the lot - scum spectacularly holding up the table on nil points, with a -5 GD. Xmas has come early.
Can you imagine how bad you would feel if you were subbed, on your debut, and replaced by ...... Fati Vieira!!!
Seems the Saints did to us what we did to Wolves last week and to be honest it was a relief to come away with a point in the end. Marsche will hopefully have learned the lesson from today that in 35 deg of heat there's no substitute for fresh legs. Also my view was he could have considered going to five at the back when they made their changes and tried to nullify the threat in the wide areas. I'll be honest that I didn't realise Forshaw was on the bench until he came on and then it seemed a mystery why that change didn't happen 15 mins earlier. Maybe he wasn't fit enough who knows. Overall though very pleased with our start to the season so far
I don't get why the heat should be the only factor for using the subs. Saints put three on and marsch should have countered that. Whether the temp is plus 35c or minus 5c the reaction should be the same.
He said he went to 5 at the back at 1-2... and hung harrison out to dry for the second You can always analyse goals defensively to see where you could do better, but Personally thought their second was a great pass and one you just shrug your shoulders at and say well done. (looks a talented lad that Mara… one of several thousand we were linked with this summer before he went to saints)
The other one was Romeo Lavia who also went to saints, but only because they employed the Man City head kids scout as Director of scouting. Think they bought 3 City players all kids
you’re right it’s not the only factor… but there’s a tactical element to subs and a fresh legs element. Early season, stifling heat, 5 subs available… Like Jammy… have to be happy with 4 points from the first two games. It’s likely two of the weaker teams we’ve played, and we’ll do well to get anything from our next two games, but we have points on the board and just as importantly have shown we can be competitive against sides we would expect to be ‘competing’ with. still need a striker and a left back though, vic!!
Phew what a day. Delayed flight. Bus broke down. Eventually got to my apartment at midnight. Couldn't keep track of the game but when I saw 2-2 was the result I was quite content. A solid away point. Then I realised we were 0-2 up and instantly thought how **** we are.
After watching the game in Lanzarote I boarded my coach with a disappointing air after we lost the 2 goal advantage after I thought I would be flying back with wings of my own . But then my mood tempered as I sat across from my son in law looking in disbelief at his phone and telling me that the scumsters where in complete disarray
Whatever you do, don’t go reading the Brentford v Scum thread on their forum. There’s only so much joy you can experience before it’s bad for you.
You could have it in one of those banqueting suites at Elland road. We could all go and tie it in with a meet up. Only snag is Matt wouldn’t be able to find his way there
