What a difference 12 miles makes. Champions day at Ascot on good-soft, soft in places and Kempton, about 12 miles east as the crow flies, has good, good-firm in places for their jumps card. They should have swapped venues.

A shame there aren't more entries at Kempton for what is fairly decent prize money but I guess connections are waiting for easier ground. Mercian Prince, Balko Saint and Sceau Royal all won on the card last year - but they can't all win this year as the first two named are in the same race (although I suppose they could dead-heat).

Sooner they bin Kempton and sell it for housing the better. The Jockey Club have clearly put the course in terminal decline and the ground today is another example of this. How have they managed to only water to good to firm in places? Even with rain last week!

The course has one good race a year, the rest is utterly depressing small fields and uncompetitive racing.

even the AW surface isn’t being looked after, and it’s becoming a back number for even AW racing. They are so behind the times, and I’m not just talking about their inability to start any AW race on time.

In my ****e racecourse rankings Kempton is fast approaching Doncaster in terms of mismanagement and horrid racing surface. Then it’s only got Southwell to beat!

    Nice rant Nass ;)

I agree they seem a bit ignorant of how to optimise the racing surface. Strange that a certain Mr Henderson often extolls Kempton's virtues, particularly as a place to send young horses. Proximity to Lambourn perhaps being the reason?

Too early for most of his I guess - only 9 runners thus far in October (and 1 of those was on the flat in the Cesarewitch). Sends a couple to Plumpton tomorrow though, including Overpriced Mixer who is interesting.

I quite like the look of Silver In Disguise in the Durham National - tough race to find the winner though.

Since 2010 he has had 300 more runners at Cheltenham than at any other single track, with 918 runners. Next in is Kempton with 610.

Can you guess which course is bottom of the list? even though he has a 100% strike rate at the course since 2010

TBH I've never heard of Billy Aprahamian - did he used to be at Seven Barrows?

He won the military Gold Cup at Sandown as an amateur and worked as assistant for Nicky as well. Funnily enough I was looking at some point to point form and trying to find out where one of them ended up... its at his yard and its owners are Fairfax and Favor Racing Club!
