The morning after the night before

Good morning everyone, how are we all today?

I found yesterday a very interesting day, just sitting back and watching things developed, we saw all that’s good on this board and all that’s bad. I read many comments and PM’s of support and I thank everyone for that and I also read some very interesting views that have had an affect.

We do have one problem with me on here, this board cant be run like others because I’m on it and that affects the other three mods. I’m not leaving it so can only ask the other mods to try and work with me and hopefully get the board back on track.

Can I start by killing two myths,

Freedom of speech, we don’t have any on here or in the country at large, next home game, whoever you support, shout out in a loud voice to the players,” Hey n..ers”. and when the police take you away try explaining about freedom of speech, no doubt they will explain about responsibilty. Now that’s a good thing, not going to debate it, not going to explain it, its how things are and it works for 99.9% of us just fine.

Open forum, no, its the Sunderland board on an open forum, I have tried hard to explain in the past and again don’t intend trying again, 99.9% understand what I mean.

My view is simple, the vast majority of Sunderland fans come on here to talk Sunderland with fellow Sunderland fans. Yes they may enjoy some banter with other fans but not constant, all boards are like that. Every board, including Newcastle, have fans from other teams who are blocked. Every week I get requests from mods of other boards to block someone for constant wuming or just being a pest, Sunderland have never blocked one person.

So, here are my solutions.

Stolen from the Man U and Liverpool boards, A Sunderland/Newcastle Banter Thread. A thread for those who enjoy banter and more to let rip. This does not mean that we cant mix on other threads, its just there for those who want it, if its not used it will die and thats fine.

Newcastle fans all I ask is to respect its the Sunderland board, you are welcome to visit and take part but please don’t camp out on here and start threads just for the sake of it. Sometimes fans just enjoy talking about their club with each other so help me out boys and girls and ignore our wums, we know we have them.

Sunderland fans, we have had some good arguments over the months, about our team and manager so lets get back to talking Sunderland, Can I ask one thing, well two, if you dont like other fans, ignore them. I cant keep ignoring none stop abuse, **** off you ****er loses its affect if its all you say. It has been said how I asked you all to turn the other cheek and be nice to Newcastle fans, no I did not, what I did ask was to not abuse Newcastle fans just for being Newcastle fans, if you dont like them just ignore them.

Bigjohn and Jonny Rocco are banned because they have the same IP address so will be the same person with one aim, to cause bother, we don’t need them and I don’t need the bother.

Finaly, two things, if you are going to name me in comments then please get it right, stop making things up or simply getting it wrong, some prime examples from yesterday..

Syd admitted that you Cest asked him to delete your thread....

Wrong, Said that he, Syd, deleted the thread to stop an all out war and that Cest has never sent a PM asking for anything to be deleted.

Syd was wrong in his mag free idea,

not my idea and it was me who pulled it.


This is a good board, lets get back to enjoying it, together.

I don't think anyone could have put that better, which in my opinion is one of the main reasons you hold the post of super mod in the first place.

 

Completely agree. I especially liked Syds point about freeedom of speech and personal responsibility. Some people on here really don't seem to get that.

 

I have been guilty of some of those things.

I publicly apologise now.

Well put Syd;I'm one of those who hasn't posted for a while as I felt that unless you agree with certain people you just get slagged off.I'm looking forward to participating again.The Sunderland/Newcastle banter thread is a great idea.

 

I hope you stick with us mate, we will still have problems but together we can get this board buzzing again

 

I am glad you are continuing mate. Glad you banned the idiot using different names. This board is always a great read and you do a pretty grand job in supervising the site (obviously barring your predictions)

You're not the overwhelming first choice for Mod of the Year for nowt matey.

I did ask the individual that said I had asked for articles to be pulled to come on and apologise if he was man enough and if he was proved wrong.

I never for one moment ever thought he was and as no such apology has been forthcoming, I take it he is just happy with himself in his world. However, my thanks for clearing that particualr point up.

I have said this a million times now, that you and do disagree on many points but I re-iterate that this forum would simply not succeed without people like you Syd and I for one welcome your renewed vigour and enthusiasm for the task.

Well said Syd, as usual you have spent time thinking about the situation and then written a a piece that encompases all that is required from us to enjoy the banter with other teams fans as well as talk Sunderland with our own fans. In addition there is a gentle reminder that you can and will be firm when required.

Here's to a growing and friendly forum and wins for both Sunderland and Newcastle (and I do mean that about The Toon). I'd love to see them make Europe next year so that the world can experience the passion generated in the North East of England.

first draft two pages with lots of **** this and **** that, wrote last night.

second draft one page with we will ban you, wrote at 5 this morning.

third draft posted then deleted, not happy with it.

fourth draft the one you can see.

am I taking this role and forum to seriously? maybe I am.

 

was it correct to ban bigjohnsafc tho i think removing 1 of his nics would have done
he did have in my opinion some good posts
