Has been charged with placing 232 beers over a 4 year period ending in 2021.

Joey Barton got an 18 month ban for a fairly similar crime (although more bets placed over a longer period)

Our very own Trippier got a ten week ban got a far less serious offence and Sturridge got a 16 week ban for same offence as Trippier’s

Do we think he did it?
What punishment do you think he’ll get?

That's nothing, I had 232 beers in just 4 months.

The big question is whether he's guilty of the betting allegations.

I think he should be made to drink those 232 beers over a 4 day period!

I want to apologise to Ivan. He placed bets and not beers. Sorry to disappoint you all

You've got to imagine a ban incoming if even a fraction of this is shown to be true (and they generally aren't hard to prove). It's a decent season for Brentford, if i was them I'd want any ban to be this season and start afresh next as they'll be fine this year even without him. You wonder how much of this goes on though as the temptation must be massive, especially for players not in the top flight.

The odds are that his goals will dry up after the ban kicks in.

Presumably he is okay to bet during his ban as he will not be involved in football.

Apparently his last bet was that he wouldn't score any more goals for the rest of this season and then he turned himself in.

    He's got a gambling addiction.

Mitigation for what he did. I'm going with 3-6 month ban.

Big trouble for the lad! think it will be 3-6 months which could spell the end of his season. Very much depends on if they have evidence of him match fixing on games he's played in or if it is just random bets on the Syrian second division but either way they wouldn't charge him with such a specific amount if there wasn't a lot of evidence.

Red card in the game (vs Luton - 20/1/21) before he stopped (23/1/21) seems a bit suspect though yellow card for booting the ball away and another tussle with a Luton player - nothing to do with tackles etc. and something you can easily control...

Looking at all the possible punishments, I think the only fair solution would be to ban him for one day. I think 8th April 2023 stands out as the obvious date. Lets just ban him that day...:bandit:

Clearly he never had any hope of going to the World Cup. No way you'd be taking on that extra baggage as a manager.

Just reading up on it and Barton was pretty harshly done by if you look at his betting!

Ok he was betting on his own team but look at these bets, poor bloke was clearly no good at gambling and probably should have got a much lesser ban based on how little he actually got right!
