Just looked it up - Bangladesh scored 595 and lost against NZ in Wellington a few years ago, so it would be a considerable new record if England were to do it. Concern is taking the wickets, Pakistan don’t have to go wild immediately to get these runs.
I think it's great that Stokes and McCullum are willing to lose the game in order to win it. This new approach is all about taking risks in order to win Test matches. They are bowling a certain way in order to try and take wickets on what is a road of a wicket. Would be an incredible victory in these circumstances !
Doubt they'll get all those in if required cos of the light near the end of play. Either way couldn't see them needing all those overs if they were to win. Its either bowl them out or they win, we can always go with a very defensive field if things start to look bleak !
If Pakistan chase this down it will be the second highest scoring test ever, next to the timeless Test in Durban in 1939, 12 days of utter boredom except for the final session, in total contrast to this one….. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2015/dec/22/the-spin-cricket-the-timeless-test-1939
Two quick wickets would make it very interesting. Its been a cracking test match surely there is one more twist!
