They must have very good accountants. We can keep going on about keeping within FFP rules and not spending very much but all that is happening is we are getting left behind. That doesn’t mean spending £500m in a transfer window and putting players on a 20yr contract but we’re going to have to start doing something pretty quickly.

8 1/2 year deal for Mudryk.

Chelsea dishing out these big contracts in order to allow them to spend **** tonne of money.

Does make me wonder if the wages given are astronomical or if there are clauses that give pay rises after certain period of time as don’t see what benefit the players get in signing a career long contract with 1 club.

they could be in an absolute **** tonne of trouble in a couple years.

the problem.its it's not strategic, it's random targrletting based on whispers in various years and robbing anyone other clubs want.

they've picked city and arsenal pockets at the minimum and are now loaded to breaking point with wingers and nobody to score goals.

If you give say 20 players hugh contracts and take the fine / transfer ban, could they then sell the player a year or so afterwards meaning the 'committed spend' counts like an 'income'...?

Well not any more (I think) it depends where it does go. if it's revenue then they can respond

but the reality is 80% of these buys are going to be a complete waste.

they'll be paying for it for a long time.

the question is whether Chelsea are actually getting round something.

we gave quite a long deal to nunez and gakpo but are not getting the same.benefit

clearly fsg have zero interest in dropped 90mil and an 8 year deal on caicedo for example. why? there halls to be more to what Chester are at than simply laughing at ffp.

it must be all never never loan money.

    I think that’s wishful thinking
Barca and Madrid seem to have got out of jail as it were
Chelsea will just find an investor
Prob when special operation ends - Roman will return

there's no rolling back from where Russia is.

that's a war of attrition and an iron curtain falling.

a brief look at the Chelsea approach

    Raheem Sterling Left wing £47.5m
Kalidou Koulibaly Left side CB £33m
    Gabriel Slonina Goalkeeper £8m
    Carney Chukwuemeka Central Midfielder £20m
    Marc Cucurella Left back £57.5m
    Cesare Casadei Central Midfielder £13.3m
Wesley Fofana Right side CB £70m
    Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Striker/LW £12m
Denis Zakaria No 6. £2.7m (loan fee) £30m (option)
    David Datro Fofana Striker £10.6m
Benoit Badiashile Left side CB £33.7m
    Andrey Santos Central Midfielder £11.1m
Joao Felix Forward £9.7m (loan fee)
    Mykhailo Mudryk Left Winger £62m

Total. 421 mil potentially but not including add ins?

Theres already 2 players on the reject ile, sterling and koulibaly are already seeing replacements come in.

    Cheslea now have
4 GKs (3 foreign players, 1 club trained)
    2 RBS (1club trained, 1 azpi)
    2 LBs (1 foreign, 1 hg)
5 Cbs (4 foreign, Club trained)
7 midfielders (call them classic CMS for 2 slots (4 foreign and i have to throw in loftus cheek and gallagher here as 2 club trained plus chukwuemeka as HG)
3 LW - Pulisic, sterling and new guy mudryk (2 foreign and 1 HG)
2 RW Mount and ziyech (1 foreign 1 hg)
2 10s: . Havertez and felix. 2 plyers both foreign
3 no 9s players for 1 slot (auba, broja, fofana, none any good. 2 foreign, 1 club trained)

    30 players there.

    20 foreign players.

so it doesn't take a genius to see theres players coming in totally ignoring the limits on squad size in addition to ffp. theres 4 guys in those buys that are likely never to see much action and go out on loan. Santos, casadei, fofana and chukwuemeka (55mil worth of signings purely to play loan and sell with)

Sterling and koulibaly and aubameyang are very likley the first players out the door (just signed but this approach) along with Pulisic, mendy, azpi and probably loftus cheek.

I think this spending is far from over. I think they will go again for another no 9 and probably an RW.

American sports have massive squads and they just change the entire team every five minutes. Not nearly as physical as sprinting for 90 minutes.

The most physically demanding aspect of yank sports for me seems to be pitching baseballs or quarterbacking.

9 innings x 3 players x 3 strikes = min of 81 throws in a game, average 100, max 125. this is the equivalent of a cricket fast bowler doing 16.6 overs. The difference here is yanks don't do a run up and then don't field either. yanks play 100s of games but have a rotating set of pitchers so they might play 30-40 games?

Quarterbacks don't take hits so maybe the linebackers might be a more accurate impact type longevity equivalent? 1500 hits per season. Thats a lot of hits.

We are talking about asking players to run 12-14km at various speeds and intensities over 90mins with about 60 of those actually moving. do that maybe 50-60 times each year.

There is no FFP, there are expensive lawyers and there are many ways around the rules. Man City showed us how when they got off and we’re guilty

Rumour mill saying Quataris are close to a takeover bid. Maybe that explains the lack of movement in the transfer market. Interesting times

Not quite as bad as the Saudis maybe, but close enough.
Regardless of whether we're sold or not - or to whom - something needs to be done pdq if we're to salvage anything from this season.

I think it’s too late for this season already. Unlikely to be any signings now according to Klopp so hopefully, new owners will let him have the funds he needs to compete. I don’t like the way the league has gone, Chelsea close to 400 million spend, Arsenal, Man City and who knows when Newcastle will let rip. Unfortunately, it is the world we live in now
