1531 FOOTBALL: Hull City manager Nigel Pearson has requested permission to speak to Leicester over their vacant manager's job, BBC Radio Humberside understands. Bugger , hope they say NO !!! Don't want him taking charge , he is TO good .
As I've said elsewhere, he did a good job for them in the past. But I can't say that his appointment would suddenly keep me up a night.
No, just the topic of conversation very briefly took this in (as the Leicester mod was involved in the conversation).
One promotion rival loses a manager and another gains one. Who cares ? Lets concentrate on Southampton FC .PERIOD.
Exactly. As long as we keep going the way we are then other sides are irrelevant. Plus this is good for us in the short-term, because we face Hull in a few weeks so this will unsettle them and they will probably only just have their new man in charge by the 29th (Tuesday - home game).
Don't like the idea that managers have freedom of movement...that thought could keep me awake at night!
I'd be very annoyed if I was a Hull fan, they've got just as good a chance of promotion as Leicester. It can only be about money - loyalty has gone right out of the window. We've seen lots of managers jumping ship over the last few years in the football league, including our own dare I say it. Long gone are the days of managers sticking it it out and building a legacy for their respective clubs, these types of managers are a rare breed now.
But this lack of loyalty cuts both ways. Managers are sacked after a few bad weeks these days. I can't remember the exact positions, but SAF had a torrid time at Man U during his first season after leaving Rangers. The board stuck with him and that worked out ok. He wouldn't be given the time these days, so I don't blame the managers for taking their chances on the merry-go-round...ours excepted of course!
It's been 6 years since Arsene Wenger won any silverware and yet the Arsenal fans still rave about him... I can't understand it! He's won three league titles and four FA Cups in 15 years, not a patch on Sir Alex. In the same time frame, Sir Alex has won 9 league titles, 2 European Cups, 2 FA Cups, 3 League Cups, 1 FIFA Club World Cup and 1 Intercontinental Cup!
Quite ironic as he left Leicester because they had no money to invest following their loss in the playoffs. Then new money comes rolling into the club and he wants to go back. It won't keep me awake at night. The way we are playing we'll be out of sight by January.
