The best fans, especially away support which counts a lot, the best manager, the best goalie, if not the best pitch!
It feels weird to state that we are the best football team in League One, but I think I agree. The hope is that we've already had our blip (at the start of 2023) and the momentum is fully behind us. We certainly have the best players and arguably the best manager in the division. A particular strength is our defensive solidity, demonstrated by another club clean sheet record broken by a McKenna team. We're also better set up to prise open tough defences, as seen over the last several matches. Those play off competing sides we visit should have something to play for, so we'll benefit as they'll surely look to attack and play football. My hesitation is mostly through ... well, it's Ipswich, isn't it? We have a knack of making things harder for ourselves and we haven't had a credible promotion attempt for nearly a decade. There's always the fear of 'when are we going to bottle this?' Possibly unfair, because this Ipswich Town team is unlike any in recent years and we're a long way removed from the austerity of the Marcus Evans years. Not forgetting that this is a tough league. Plymouth, Sheffield Wednesday, and Barnsley are all good teams (and we haven't beaten any of them this season ... with one more match against Barnsley to go).
The concern for me is we have been on a hell of a run yet its still not in out hands. Plymouth and Sheff Weds have been relentless. I'd love it and how unlike Ipswich would it be if we crept in there on the last day of the season. Key for me is keeping Luongo fit and keeping the team relatively unchanged, we have a really good balance to the team at the moment.
Wendies run is now wobbling, dropping points, and losing to bottom club in league! All 4 top teams in wirh a good shout. Ipswich have many aces and strength and revitalised club to take the good fight to the last day!
As people say, we have the hardest run in out of the top 4 BUT i would fancy our chances more against a decent footballing side, than lots of games against teams like Accrington, who are fighting for their lives, as Forest green showed the other day. I honestly think we will make the top 2, we will beat Derby and continue our great run!!
Exeter have 9 games left, and play the top 7. Hopefully they get a few wins before they play us on the penultimate game
