They have played top flight but I don't think they have ever been in the Prem. I can't believe I left them off my list as I wrote them down as I was checking them.
Yep, that's right. 19 of the 24 have been in the top flight in the Premier League era, Preston and the other four are the only ones that haven't.
West Brom are likely be among the promotion favourites next season, so this going through could destabilise their promotion push, depending on replacement. Leeds might also be sold this summer, so they might have a bit of a turbulent time themselves.
Millwall must have missed out by a season or two as I remember playing them in the old Div 1. Preston & Bristol feel like championship stalwarts, but history means nothing. There are probably about 5/6 clubs in next years premier league who have smaller attendances than ourselves.
Their owner's got a penchant for self-dealing rivaled only by [father/son combo that used to own an English club that I won't name because they are notoriously litigious].
Interesting. I just presumed they’d be a threat next year because of how they ended the season, and because they’re usually always fighting for promotion in this league. That’s not to say they won’t be, but if it’s a bit of a rollercoaster with the ownership then hopefully it makes things more difficult for them.
It has been fascinating following these threads this week whilst away in Qatar. Ths championship will be extremey difficult this season but I am not sure anyone can really redict where we night end up one week after the last season has finished let alone confidently predict automatic promotion. Everyone seems to have accpeted that players like KWP, JWP, Adams, etc will be moved on but I think there is no way that we can count on some of the merging players like Alcaraz and Soulemana remaining as they will want to play in the PL. I am resigned to losing these players as well. The talk of Tella returning is ridiculous as he will want to remain with a promoted club and has fallen out with Southampton. There is no way he will return. The confidence in Adam Armstrong suddenly striking form also seems misplaced. I just don't think he is good enough and the fact that he was so out of his depth was a large factor in our demise. I would be keen to see him off-loaded although I think he is ultimately destined for League One. I am not negative about Russell Martin although I do concur that it is a less than inspiring appointment and we are all familiar with how disastrous it was when we appointed Nathan Jones. Fans should give him a chance but, by the same token, reflect that he will effectively have to re-build a team from scratch. I can see about 75% of the current squad either being sold or released.
There is none. Tella said he's looking forward to returning to Southampton to do pre-season, about two weeks ago.
