2nd plane. They've sent one already. It had one chap on it with £3,000 in his bin.

Vennells admits "she made mistakes" through the crocodile tears.
    Excruciating.
No wonder the hundreds of sub-postmasters aren't inclined to believe a single word that comes out of her mouth.

And more agony for the loved ones of the victims of the Grenfell disaster.
No criminal proceedings until 2026 at the earliest.
Plenty of time for evidence to disappear and corporate arses to be covered.

    It's always the same.

She was on the ropes at times, but still has managed to stay on her feet. If it was a court of law I'm sure the judge would not put up with her evasive answers to the forensic questionning.

A leisure service, Be Well, has offered free swimming in Tower Hamlets to "women and girls over 16 and men over 55". Surely this can't be legal?

It’s Tower Hamlets @The Penguin - the place of my birth, which is now totally unrecognisable.

An Egyptian solder has been killed in an exchange of fire between Israeli and Egyptian troops on the border near Rafah.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c51108le52xo

I remember when Begin and Sadat signed the Peace treaty in 1979.
Remarkable really as I was only a kid back then. It's one of the first big events in World Politics that I do recall.
45 years later, the failure to build on that treaty is a tragic legacy for the entire region.

Oh dear. That will annoy the Express and Daily Heil...

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-politics-69063295

Although Stockport Council and the Revenue & Customs people might still have something to say about it.
But it seems Angela Rayner's position is safe.
She said she would resign if any criminal proceedings were begun.

Sadly all the political circus of the early stages of the General Election campaign pales into insignificance when compared with this latest event.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c511repj004o

Around 500 trouble makers who refused to disperse when a protest march was over.
Then abused the freedom to protest by turning to violence and disorder, in the process injuring three Police officers - including a female officer who was hit in the face by a thrown glass bottle and may have suffered life changing injuries.

As many as possible of these thugs should be rounded up and prosecuted.
Their hatred and stupidity plays right into the hands of the growing number of people who say these pro-Palestinian marches should be banned.
With a heavy heart I have to say that the growing number now includes me.

Unlike Suella Braverman and her ilk, I will never believe that the majority of people who go on these marches support the bloody terrorists of Hamas.
The vast majority of the 10,000 protesters on this march behaved peacefully and went home when the march was officially over.
But one wounded Police officer is one too many.

There comes a time when order and peace on our streets must take absolute priority - when the right to peacefully protest is so blatantly abused by a frighteningly large minority of anarchists, who have proved themselves willing and eager to behave like terrorists.
    That time has now come.
The political and religious tensions over the Gaza tragedy is ramping up yet again. And with further tensions being raised as the General Election approaches it is inevitable in my view that there will be more disorder and more injuries.

Something must be done before a Police officer, a bystander or a protester is killed.
Not by the Home Office. Something must be done by the Met Chief of Police.
The Met has the power to ban these marches.
Not for political reasons, which the Home Office would be accused of.
But if the Met Police themselves consider that the marches are a threat to public safety and order.
    Well they are now.

You’re about three months too late. These marches should have been banned long, long ago. Repeated and frequent criminal offences have been being committed on them for weeks and weeks. Senior Police Officers had more than enough evidence to ban them, as did the Government, but they each played political games, hoping that the other would do so first.

In the meantime junior officers have had to deal with the sh*t that these people bring each weekend, Jewish people who have nothing to do with what’s happening in Gaza are abused and threatened on British streets, the British public have their lives disrupted and have their movements restricted and damage is caused to property.

That a Police officer has received a nasty injury should never have happened, but it doesn’t make any difference to the fact that these should have been banned a long while ago.

If you want to protest against Israel (and I’d support you in that view), then get on a plane and do it over there. Don’t do it on the streets of Britain.

I went on one of these marches, about 3 months ago, and it was perfectly peaceful and good-natured. That is my first-hand experience. There were good relationships between the police and marchers, and also quite a few Jews on the march who are against the bombardment.

Can’t argue with first hand experience but I very much doubt that even on that march no disruption was caused at all. I accept that is inevitable and unavoidable, to allow freedom of speech. But since the early march(es) this has long since ceased to be the case. Freedom of speech must be balanced against other’s freedoms to lawfully do and go where they wish to. The Police leaders shouldn’t have waited until larger scale disorder and violence occurred. They should have called a halt to this before that happened.

    100%

And that’s the problem with allowing these marches - they ALWAYS end up being hijacked by these sorts after a while.

Nothing is going to stop Israel while they have US support. Even today the US has come out and said what’s happened in Rafah and what is continuing in Rafah and elsewhere doesn’t cross any red lines. Well what the f*ck would then ?

The Jury is out in the Trump hush money trial...

The longer they take to deliberate, the more likely it is that they will find him Not Guilty.
The next couple of days are the crunch ones.

I think there are 34 counts against him, so it may take a little time.
Maybe there will be some convictions and some acquittals.

Trump fund Guilty after 12 hours of jury deliberation.
The Judge has refused him leave to appeal, but he can apparently appeal that decision.

    Another quiet news day <laugh>

    Guilty on all counts apparently.

What on Earth will happen next. Could be chaos in the US.

Homes in another region told today that they cannot drink their tap water. Even after boiling it.

I have felt safe to drink tap water all my life.
But I'm going to stop doing that now.
What have we come to, when we cannot even rely on having clean water to drink. This Country is sliding back towards the pre-Victorian era.

Even clean tap water contains many "forever" chemicals. A Brittax filter gets rid of most of them.

I haven’t drunk tap water (apart from boiled with coffee) for a couple of decades now. Wasn’t about chemicals at the time as such, I just didn’t like the taste, although that was because I could taste the chlorine.
