They’ve hated him almost all season and he’s been having pops at the fans.

Think there was a run of form around February that saved his job. Not surprised.

From the outside, it's very harsh. Very harsh indeed.

But as we know from our own sackings (Puel & Ralph both spring to mind), outsiders looking in don't always know the full story.

Oh yeah but I think Norwich fans were pretty happy to sack Wagner.

Saw on their forum they want Martin or Farke (they think one of them at least will be available as whoever doesn’t go up will be sacked)

Yeah, him and Norwich fans have not been the best of friends. His close association with Stuart Webber didn't help either.

On overall balance of his tenure, and the way Norwich play vs the way they can play, it's probably the right decision.

Last season they finished 13th and failed to score a single goal at home from about Feb onwards. It was quite the surprise that he started the season still employed.

Yes, they were a lot better this season but Norwich's home form since December has pretty much kept the wolves from the door for Wagner.
Fans do not like the way the team play, there have been times when they played like Leeds did last night - quick one touch stuff, give and go, drive at teams - but it was fleeting, just a glimpse here and there in matches rather than being a tactical choice. All too often, when forward options present themselves, Norwich turn back, play it inside and back to the CBs, none of whom are actually any good at playing out from the back (or actually any good, it's hard to think of a collection of three worse CBs than Duffy, Gibson and Hanley in the Championship). You could see it last night, they were three goals down yet the instinct was still backwards and slow. Even when Sainz came on and tried to drive them forward, he was often left frustrated by passes going backwards.

Chris Sutton is a melt, but in his appraisal of Norwich last night, he was pretty spot on.

Rooney might be an awful manager, but he's a name and will have contacts. And that might be useful for Plymouth, if it enables them to attract players this summer who they otherwise would have had no hope of getting.

I really there’s a real subconscious bias against Rooney. Did alright with Derby but the Birmingham move was a disaster, but also a poison chalice from the start.

Rooney is a person that people enjoy to hate and see fail.

Saved me a post here (but doing it anyway). Birmingham were crap this year but while Rooney was there they looked like they had potential. He left and they had none.

Blues fan friend says very differently but apparently the off-licences near the training ground and hotel did well.

As the creator of this thread when we were in the depths of abject misery, is it fair to suggest we lock this one and get onto our Premier League 24/25 thread. :emoticon-0105-wink:
