This proves how mad football has become, the lads done well but to be even considered for the Man Utd job is crackers !! That club is crumbling year on year, the owners have destroyed it, Sir Alex must be scratching his head.
Is it tho? Why is it when clubs try to go away from the boring old manager type that's been around donkeys and keeps getting sacked or moving club yet still gets a new job. It's seen as a bad thing? Fair play to them for taking a chance imo. Footballs changed from the same old managers getting job after job I think k it's a good thing.
I think you’re talking to the wrong poster. Maric is my preferred choice for our job, I think McKenna is phenomenal and I can understand Chelsea looking at him. If I were Ipswich and lost McKenna then I’d go for Rohl. Maresca though has shown nowhere near enough for me in his coaching, as a tactician or
I'm not surprised by the willingness of elite clubs to go for these unproven coaches because things are changing in football from a what have you done elsewhere philosophy to a more what can you do for us approach. What Bayern see in Kompany is how his Burnley team in the Championship were a dominant possession based side when his players are of a higher standard to the rest of the league, like they will be at Bayern. Alonso got relegated from the Spanish second division, but Leverkusen looked at his style of play, hired him and now look at them. People might think it's unfair on the likes of Dyche for example who finished in Europe with Burnley yet ended up being sacked and now is fighting relegation with Everton, but seriously how many top teams want his style of play? Look at Russell Martin for example, mid table finishes with both MK Dons and Swansea yet lands a top championship job and in my opinion will be in the PL next year whether it's with Southampton or not, purely because of the style of play he implements. The likes of McKenna and Kompany are better fits for the top clubs than coaches who have achieved more simply because their style fits. I expect more and more of these types of hires going forward.
Presume we also get more money for Stewart if Southampton go up also? No brainer who to route for Sunday
