It's down to the views of individual chairmen though mate. Hull's Chairman obviously doesn't think he's good enough. Doesn't mean he's right. Look at Birmingham. Their Chairman didn't rate Eustace and where did that get them.

 

He's iffy at the very best.

It's tough for me to admit but I thought the club finally had their **** together at that point.

I was raging Tony called out the club suggesting they bought some experienced players in.

When they sacked him I assumed they had a decent replacement already lined up... I could go on.

 

If this Still stuff is true, and the Maric as assistant to Kompany, looks like all three of those are out of the picture.

Sure I read that Svensson has been confirmed at Union Berlin or something along those lines.

Plenty more out there who could build us into a team worthy of promotion.

Just pleased its not my job to hire them, sounds tedious.

 

if you own the club, and are serious and professional, you identify your top target and go and get them. It’s really not that difficult. If all this is to be believed, we are competing against Norwich City. We are messing about, that is clear, given the length of time this is all taking. It’s Sunderland, not the moon. In football money talks, and so does how clubs are run, regarding control of transfers, back room staff etc etc. however anyone wants to dress this up, we really are making a right mess of this, just as we did last season.

Obviously, this is a hypothetical response to a hypothetical question, so I’ll wait and see what becomes fact or fiction. However, from what we know, it’s pretty concerning

 

Thanks for that mate. I guess it depends on whether his contact at the club is really in a position to know the ins and outs of our transfer dealings or is just passing on club gossip.

 

It might do but no guarantees that it does with the way transfers are done these days

Most players are joining the club rather than because a certain manager is in place - i get that a manager can have the pull to get a deal over the line tho

Its still more important to get the right manager in than 'rush'/panic abd make the wrong appointment

On Maric, I think its been common that Championship clubs have attracted youth coaches from the likes of Dortmund so I do think he was attainable but if he wasnt then surely he would of been taken away from our list almost immediately.

In terms of what the club would have done wrong, for me I'd be saying that you only listed 3 coaches there, so first of all why only 3 failed candidates then we end up back in the recently sacked British manager pool. How can the likes of QPR and Sheff Wed, in worse positions than us, find the coaches they did from abroad and seemingly have no trouble getting them?

Obviously candidates may want to see how things play out, we cant do much about that of course, but we've had over 3 months now, Still has been available for a few weeks, has something been holding him back from taking the job? Because there has been a decent amount of time between Still leaving and the Norwich sacking / Kompany/Mckenna/Maresca rumours. Could we have not got it tied up in that period?

By the way, not being critical of the club here, this is all speculation and I'm waiting for an actual appointment to be made before I give my opinion.

Staying off here until its actually announced, too much reaction to any little tweet and folk slagging the club when they dont know what is actually going on

I get folk being concerned that we dont have a manager and all fans, myself included, will be nervous until we appoint someone

Heres hoping theres an announcement soon to stop the meltdown
