I was pointing out that it isn’t just rich Tories are hypocritical about the subject. It goes right across the spectrum. Is it that difficult to grasp?Meanwhile you think everyone should follow what you think and everyone not in agreement should be insulted.
All I think is that reducing the amount of plastic packaging and single use items, such as Steverico's straws, that is buried in landfill is a good policy.
How dare other people have their own beliefs! They should be getting spoon fed their opinion from Hellmandr’s echo chamber.
You seem to talk your own beliefs up, and offer little constructive to counter the opposing views. I could be wrong, but based on your comments on here, I'd wager that there are several posters with a deeper, and longer term knowledge of the topics. It could be worth you reading up on some of the things that have been said, rather than getting negative, defensive and dismissive.
The same people that thought getting people to use a soggy cardboard straw swallow their poison with in McDonalds, dished out millions of plastic test kits and other sundry plastic items for Covid. They now use plastic vessels as temporary hearts during a by-pass operation, and that vessel itself puts plastics directly into the body. They still have people that take them seriously.
My three beliefs I've posted about on this thread are a reduction of plastics into the environment, the benefits for nations to have control over their energy sources via renewables and that electric cars in the main, work. I'm happy to talk these up because I support them. Theres things we agree on and things we disagree on.
Ok Mr Virtue, I will bite, I have been to the USA many times, Wal Mart packs your groceries in plastic bags for you, gas/petrol prices are cheap as ****, they make massive trucks that go 15/20 mpg, China so they say builds a new coal fired power station every week, but manufactures most of the battery powered cars in the World, that need huge amounts of coal fired power stations to charge, we are being conned on climate change, if it was real and the Worlds going to end in the next century, do you really think the superpowers would carry on the way we are? Ban the most polluting vehicle on the planet, Cruise Ships, a plaything that no one needs, ban log burners that produce more pollution than a 100 gas boilers, ban ****ing Rishi helicoptering 50 mile trips. Do you really think Siemens would be in Hull but for massive subsidies from the tax payer, do you think any weird ****er would put a heap pump in but for massive subsidies from the tax payer. Wake up daft lad climate change is for votes, that stupid little ****er Greta, flies all over the World telling us we are killing the planet with Co, whilst killing the planet with Co.
This is something that has been debated in the science community for many years, and isn't limited to the Met Office, as the same occurs in other Countries data. "...nearly 80% of the Met Office’s 380 U.K. temperature measuring stations had internationally recognised ‘uncertainties’ between 2-5°C. Specifically, almost one in three (29.2%) in ‘junk’ Class 5 had ‘uncertainties’ up to 5°C as defined by the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO). Nearly half (48.7%) were sited at ‘near junk’ Class 4 sites with ‘uncertainties’ of 2°C. Shockingly, only 52 stations, or just 13.7% of the total, came without any ‘uncertainty’ rating. Class 5 station are prone to pick up all manner of human and natural caused heat corruptions, while class 1 sites simply measure the surrounding air temperature." please log in to view this image
The problem isn’t plastic, greenhouse gases, or whatever it is. The problem is, the population has more than doubled in the last 40 years & shows no sign of slowing down.
Each to their own but EV’s are not for me. I sold a plug in hybrid last month that was just shy of three years old, we fitted a new 12V battery to it prior to handover, however my customer rang me a week ago today to tell me that he’d gone to the car last Friday morning, after it had been in charge all night, only to find that there wasn’t even enough power in the thing to unlock the doors with the remote key. It’s been back at our place for a week now and our diag can’t find any faults, so we’re currently in the hands of the manufacturer giving us various tips to try to resolve the issue, in the meantime my customer is without the car that he paid in excess of £20k for. We also currently have a Mustang Mach-e in our workshop with the half a ton of battery completely removed from the car due to a failed cell needing to be replaced. Fortunately it’s still under manufacturer warranty, however I dread to think what cost to the owner would be incurred if it wasn’t. Give me an ICE car every day of the week, and twice on a Sunday! Yeah I know I’m gonna get the response that ICE cars fail as well, which is true but usually a relatively cheap, or cheaper, and quick solution is found for those issues.
Agreed, I don’t think the ev cars or underlying charging infrastructure are yet ready for prime time. Maybe a few years down the road but for now will stick with ICE.
