Yes it is a shame but Andrew French keeps saying they need the money.. Empoli play Roma at the weekend and are a point behind Udinese so reckon they will be ok with a draw and obviously a win.
I think that the WO does need the money, as many other newspapers do. There are some that I have no scruples about finding away around their paywalls, but the WO I think about. If the paper was independent, I might think twice, but as part of the Newsquest group, who can be pretty ruthless, I feel differently. That said, it would a great loss if Andrew French wasn't around, as he follows in the footsteps of Ollie pretty well.
I had a WO subscription for a while in Oz - cost me an arm & a leg, but that was mainly because of the postage, from memory it upped the price up to around £3:00 per edition, and it always arrived two weeks late. I started it in 1982 and cancelled when Bassett got us relegated.

Got all the relegation threatened sides playing at the same time but everyone else seems to be all over the place. Actually Atalanta have a game to play against Fiorentina next week I read !
But what they haven't done is consider the effect on Roma with nothing to play the against Empoli. Not good enough.
