He was responsible for a lot of our duds as well, especially under the Allams. I suppose he didn’t have much to work with in the later Allam years as they pretty much turned off the tap but Cannon, Moncur, Williams and Tyler Smith were all poor signings at Championship level. The relegation season also had some honking signings like Samuelsen, Scott and Maddison (on loan).

Darnbrough’s best season in terms of recruitment was the one in League One. We signed some really solid players for that level who contributed to winning the League One title. Some of them are still here and solid players for us now like Coyle and Jones and of course Slater. Smallwood and Docherty were important players that year too.

Think you’ve provided pretty strong context as to why he signed these duds. Those signings made when we came back up were during a transfer embargo too don’t forget

He was in hindsight but at the time lots of City fans thought Figueiredo was an astute signing to provide experience at centre-half and be that rock in a back three between Jones and Greaves. Figueiredo was an old-fashioned bruiser centre-half, not a technical ball-playing one like Greaves or a composed sweeper like Jones. Figueiredo played 26 times in a Forest side that got promoted so people welcomed his signing. Figueiredo was just crap at playing out from the back and not suited to possession football and **** himself when pressed. Shota’s football was so confused none of us, nor even the players, knew what style of football they were supposed to be playing. When Rosenior came in, Figueiredo barely played as he didn’t suit the style of football and we went to a back four again with Jones nailing down the right centre-back spot.

Darno is another relic of a bygone era, maybe we will stop getting linked with the odd L1 pudding now he’s off thank god.

Just realised with Darnbrough going the Head of Recruitment position is vacant.

I’ll have you know all my transfer suggestions are extremely level-headed and wouldn’t put us at risk of breaking FFP rules.

He was mocked for begging players to join Burnley or Norwich or some rubbish. I can dig it up if you insist.

At least the chances of me getting another stadium ban have been reduced now.

Wilks played a big part in getting us out of league 1
Not the most likeable of players but did a good job with his grass cutters
How much did he cost and how much did we get? I’ve no idea

Hull City head of recruitment Lee Darnbrough is set to leave the Tigers for Stoke City. The 46-year-old joined City from Norwich in 2017 but is believed to making the switch to Championship rivals Stoke.

He has worked with an array of managers while at the MKM Stadium, from Leonid Slutsky, Nigel Adkins, Grant McCann, Shota Arvaladze and Liam Rosenior, but is set to leave for the Potters.

He has previous been linked with Premier League roles, including Wolves in 2020, and Scottish Premiership side Hearts, however on both occasions he opted to stay with Hull.

Darnborough arrived at the club under Assem Allam's ownership but remained following Acun Ilicali's takeover and has been behind several big transfer deals.
He helped bring future stars such as Fikayo Tomori and Harry Wilson, along with more recent players such as Fabio Carvalho, Liam Delap and Jaden Philogene.

He also was forced to operate during the club's transfer embargo, which made life difficult for a head of recruitment. Speaking in 2022 following promotion back to the Championship, he said: “We got relegated under the Covid pandemic and league finishing, with players not playing due to their contract status, the results weren’t great and we’d gone from the heights of being on the verge of being in the play-offs to being relegated that was tough.

“To win the league – the club’s first league title in 55 years – and keep that group together [was a real high]. I understood why the loan was taken, but that brought its own challenges in terms of not being able to pay transfer fees, loan fees and being restricted on wages etcetera, it made it tough.”

Is Stan Ternant still alive? Get him back he could spot a player. Non of this modern rag statistical rubbish. I’m glad Fraudbourgh has gone. Useless.
