It would be another Barnes signing. Consolidation, middle of the road stuff. He’s not better nor more reliable than Wilson.

 

Is he any good in the air and with hold up play ? Not being Munsony I honestly dont know. Lewin is good at that and I don't think we had that option this season.

It's all about filling holes in the squad amd having options when a different line of attack is required I think......if true anyway.

I think it may be an OK at best signing towards the end of the window. I'd not want to spend cash on DCL before we have got priority players in so we don't runout of PSR budget

It sounds like we'll have a decent budget, with £70m+ debt dropping off of the figures, money added from players sold last summer, money added from any players sold early enough this summer (Almiron, Wilson, Dubravka and Longstaff all apparently attracting attention for reported figures that add up to around £70million), money added from sponsorships... Is the Adidas money counted this summer?

 

I agree..... it'll probably be a bit of both.... 3 or 4 higher quality players that all actually start instead of piss farting around until everything else falls apart would be good..

 

That would all be ace. However we've thought we have loads'a'money before and then spent little (Ashley era + PSR still makes me skeptical about how much we will spend)

Hopefully we can get a couple of serious players in (Sesko & Chiesa or Olise ideally) on top of hopefully Tosin, Kelly & Mamardasvili.
That easily ends up £150m. So don't want to spend on players like DCL unless we have spare left over

On top of tosin and Kelly that would put Newcastle right in the top 4 mix if they got it right. If I was being greedy I'd like a cm that can carry the ball a bit ..Joelinton and Willock can but the others can't and willock has big problems.

 

Ederson at Atalanta would be a good pick. Can run the midfield from a holding position and push Bruno and Tonali forward.
With the players we have in there though, I don't think we get a new CM unless one big one is, or a few cheaper ones are sold..

 

Saw we were linked and I like the one at valencia also.. can't recall his name?.. I suspect these are options if Guimareas decides to go though.
