The manager persisting with Burn at left back for months when he was being rinsed game after game was key I feel.
in the end injuries helped because eventually Burn had to move to cb, Hall came into the side and we instantly started getting results. Same with the right backs situation.. injuries helped get tino on the pitch.
Injuries helped Miley as well. But if we didn’t have the original injuries we wouldn’t have noticed Burn
Burn was found out towards the end of last season. The thing is I'm seeing people blaming luck, injuries and ignoring the managers stubborn resistance to fixing the Burn issue until he had no other option than to play Hall. That imo is very telling...we all saw it week after week month after month.. he did nothing.. he went full Southgate. Anyway it is what it is.. we move on and this summer and next season are vital for Howe and the club.
It did solve the issue ... Burn went to cb did well, Livramento was at right back and we went unbeaten in 6 and then Hall won player of the month.
No. Think. That wouldn’t have happened at the start of the season. Burn wouldn’t have replaced Botman and Tino, rightly, wouldn’t have replaced Trippier
Exactly Hall should on evidence have been playing all season but we were doing ok..the fact is we all saw Burn being rinsed and targeted and he did nothing despite having the option to change it. It's the months where is went wrong in which the manager didn't change it until it was forced that cost us most dearly. Luck is hocus pocus to me mate.... howe isn't a god he's made mistakes... overall he's doing well.
Burn was left back when we finished 4th. What changed without us noticing for Hall to replace him? For Tino to replace Trippier?
The position is irrelevant... the fact is Lewis Hall is a far superior football player and there was a period of around two months where the manager persisted with Burn and even picked Dummet to come on ahead of Hall. Hall was only finally introduced when everything else fell apart meaning Burn had to move to cb and Hall was brilliant and ended winning player of the month. If Trippier Botman Lascelles Livramento weren't all injured and dummett hadn't cost us the match at Chelsea Hall wouldn't have played at all and Burn would still be at left back....it took all that to get this manager to do something about it.
The results since he was brought in were excellent and he played very well. I dont think anyone could deny the huge improvement on what was happening with Burn for months. Those months have cost us imo. Howe didn't want to drop Burn and he wasn't going to either.. that's his right he's manager but what happened after Burn moved to cb and Hall came in was actually dramatic.
We ****housed results last season. This season we didn't. We changed our tactics. Injuries played a large part of that. Hall will be our LB next season. RB - it won't be Trippier.
I don't think Hall will be.. I think Howe doesn't fancy him and he'll drop him the minute Kelly comes in... this happens sometimes.. a manager just doesn't like a player. Ultimately we'll have two good left backs so Howe can use them accordingly though. Hall is still young he does make on or two errors but overall he's been outstanding since injuries gave him his chance.
Don't forget "We are the loyalist, football supporters, the world has ever had" Apart from when we want to moan, bitch, cry, whinge, belittle the team and manager
There's a few instances of that from Bobby Robson to Steve Bruce and that won't stop. It's not nice tbh but everyone's done it.
So what you’re saying is Howe timed it perfectly and started playing Hall exactly when Hall was ready to come in and play to an acceptable standard rather than playing him too soon and watching him be destroyed as a player. Must obviously be your point as you have absolutely no evidence whatsoever that despite how poorly Burn was playing that Hall would have played to an acceptable standard if he had come in. Have to say I concur.
