So you want the incoming HC to appoint his own boss?? That sounds like a great idea can't think why nobody has ever thought of this before.
They make a big noise about it being a collaborative process. If it's not we might as well stick with Dodds. Employees recommending bosses is not a new thing #businessjargon
I'd rather not have double the upheaval, personally. KS still has enough credit in the bank to try and fix the squad with another transfer window and move towards completing the job. Otherwise it is going to be a case of sacking off the five year plan under Speakman and starting again with new staff who probably want to build a new squad in their image. Any coach hired needs to be willing to work with KS and to make it work. No point agreeing to it only to start whinging and take the pay-off when it breaks down. If KS can't appoint such a person this time round, I think he's done.
Maybe he's got enough credit. I can see the argument both ways. Speakman is one poor decision away from proving conclusively that he isn't capable of taking a club to the next level though. The five year plan has failed though, let's be honest. Unless take a great leap backwards was on the list for this year.
It hasn't failed until its objectives are impossible to complete within the time frame. Just as he is one bad decision away from proving his incapability, he's only a few good decisions away from proving his capability. I'm not a particularly big supporter of his and I wouldn't be particularly sad to see him go. But he hasn't yet failed in his remit as far as I can tell, probably why he is still around.
When everyone else around you has been replaced and the results are the same, then you're the problem.
The results haven't been the same. So that's just not a valid argument that holds moisture, nevermind water. Promotion. Play-offs. This poor back step of a season. If we have another poor season that becomes a relevant point. But by that logic, if we have a window and a good season that pushes the plan back on track absolutely all of the credit falls at the feet of KLD and KS. As they are the constant. I would also assume, 12 months ago, when the squad had been tinkered with and managers had changed. KS and KLD got all of the credit for turning us from perennial also rans in league one to promotion contenders in the championship? I do not remember it that way.
The terrible decision to get of Mowbray when they did really bit them in the a rse. That said, even if they let TM carry on till the end of the season we would still had the issue of his health problems and I assume Venus/Dodds would have been put in temporary charge that could well have meant a relegation scrap. But we wouldn't have had Beale which would have been some kind of blessing.
There's no doubt about they didn't get rid of Mowbray and appoint this fella at the time because of public opinion mind.
Ok! Can you tell me one professional club where the HC has appointed the DoF under normal circumstances.
IMO it was the correct decision to sack Mowbray when we did. Playing poor for month or so. Replacing him with the cheapest available was the problem
Agree with the first two points. The third can only be judged on 5 years surely, but last year was a huge mess.
I still think it's more complicated than one person being at fault or one event being the cause. It doesn't matter now, anyway. We are where we are and can only look forward. The club will have looked at what's gone wrong and, hopefully, understand how to rectify it.
