I wonder how they got to Beale? In my opinion, if you are going to sack a coach mid season, you need to be clear on who your next man is. I have a worry we dont have any clarity in our plans, or realism. I think we have a bit of a blindspot when it comes to how to recruit a head coach. Then arguably the worst time to bring in a new coach is the busiest period in the season where you cam do very little actual coaching. Whether Beale was the cheap option or not he was dealt a pretty rough hand at the outset in my opinion. If we wanted Still then and thought we could get him, I dont think our research was good enough. I dont believe Beale was ever in the frame and was a bit of a last minute knee jerk decision, because we couldnt attract others. Maybe we are an unattractive club for many? The length of the process this time around troubles me in the same way. If the fit is right for Still, assuming the chatter on here is correct about how long he has sat on the offer and his visits, it should have been done by now, in my opinion. I worry a prolonged process of negotiation and demands and counter demands is not a sound basis for a relationship. All that said I hope this next lad is the right one. I also hope he gets a bit more leeway than other coaches have had regarding form. We have the youngest squad, and young playeds can be inconsistent. If we have a rough run of a month then we must not hit the ejector seat button. We need a period of consistency if the ambitions of premier league football are to be met, I believe anyway. Since KLD has come in we havent had a coach do a full season. Jack Ross did one, before that is was Moyes only in the last decade. I think that is a really poor record and folk looking to work for us take notice. It needs to change.
I honestly believe Beale had done something that meant they had to get him out quickly ... ... my guess is that the players did a 'di Canio' and went to the boss. That's what I was told, at the time, but not from anyone involved with the club so could just be gossip.
I think it was their owner that described Rooney as intelligent. What a mockery that makes of the English language. The language of Shakespeare, of Wordsworth, of Chaucer. ****ing butchered.
Very possible. I hate the idea of players doing that by the way. But I felt at the time something didnt point to just football performances.
His results weren't bad enough to have made such a big payoff worthwhile ... ... it was like 'instant dismissal for groping the boss's PA'
The first phrase he should take the time to learn is 'No thank you, very kind but I think I've eaten enough' please log in to view this image
Keep saying this. Recent evident says that Speakman knows his youth football but if we go down the inexperienced head coach route we need to add a first team operator to recruitment to give it balance. On that basis I’d keep Speakman but have lost trust about him operating the whole lot.
Hopefully see something concrete this week then. I wouldn’t be shocked if the main holdup was Doods and Proctor. Still not wanting them as his main men and SAFC deciding what to do with them.
woke up rough as toast, but still a smile on me face realising this will be are last weekend with out a gaffer
Nah all good mate. The nature of it now though. Some people just like to take everything from everywhere and put it on forums. This then causes the usual mob to take things out of context and then the pile on starts.
I'd be totally shocked tbh ... ... KLD is putting in his own money to get Sunderland promoted, he'd crush them like bugs if he thought they were holding us back. Owners aren't at football clubs to make friends and he has little in common with those two anyway. People who have let him down are soon pedalled ... either on the football side or behind the scenes.
True mate, Still will decide where they should be in terms of the first team. If its not with the first team the club will decide where if they are not happy with it, its time to move on, they certainly aren't irreplaceable.
And here comes the latest groundless rumour which will become a 'fact' as quickly as the £20m loan and Sartori buying another club ... this one is that the club is up for sale and KLD needs the money fast. Even when we appoint the new manager this shyte will just keep being pumped out ... ... it's like a campaign to find anything to attack the club, if nothing is found just make something up
I think the fact he appeared quite unpopular ( the Hume incident for example) meant he was on borrowed time and then the weird social media stuff gave an opportunity to ditch him. Understandably recruitment at that point is tricky, you’ve pissed off everyone that was interested in the job just a few weeks before and couldn’t have expected to have to recruit so soon hence Dodds. I imagine it has largely been back to square one recruitment wise with the possible exception of Still.
