Is it my imagination or since Newey negotiated out of his contract Red Bull have started struggling?

 

Maybe.

The gap was smallish at the start so I can't really tell if they've stalled or have been scraping for marginal improvement while others had far more scope to improve by frankly copying them again

We are down to a sliver between the teams with macca better at high speed and ferrari now again showing their engine traction after falling off a cliff with the car around the engine for 18months.

The red bull might have stalled in development. I just couldn't say.

Bit the mclarns have caught up.in the the higher speed tracks and have better tyre wear.

Red bull have had thst luxury over thr others for 2 years. Just run longer and mind tyres. Now they can't and its all equal.

This is a slow speed track like singapore and it was extremely competitive. Verstsppen clipped a wall rather than get his final run so is punished heavily.

They will be back winning next time.round bit it will be closer.

I'm convinced perez is going to cost them the constructors. But with 2 and 3 teams fighting this means verstappennjust has to dig in and trade blows as everyone takes points to win the thing.

But later on... who knows which team develops an advantage. I couldn't say who will come out of the summer break ahead in the first quali.

 

Perez won't have **** weekends every weekend, Ferrari and McLaren will be taking points off each other too.

 

Won a championship, in the second best car too - it was marginal, but I’m struggling to remember the last time anyone did that.

On the weekend, looking like Ferrari’s to lose - so I guess that’s good news for McLaren.

After qualifying, both Haas drivers were found to have a rear wing with a DRS clearance that exceeds the maximum permitted limit of 85mm on the outermost areas.

The FIA's technical delegate Jo Bauer flagged the issues after scrutineering, writing in a statement that "the uppermost rear wing element adjustable positions were checked on car numbers 20 and 27.

"The LHS and RHS outermost area of the of the adjustable elements were exceeding the maximum allowed 85mm on both cars.

"As this is not in compliance with TR Article 3.10.10 h), I am referring this matter to the stewards for their consideration."

The stewards promptly summoned the Haas team for a meeting at 7:15pm local time.

The transgression will almost certainly lead to both Hulkenberg and Magnussen being disqualified from Saturday's qualifying results.


So they will have start right at the back , if car has failed the test .

 

Perez won in 2021, so no, it wasn't the 2nd best car.

It might be a coincidence but I have noticed. I just wonder how Newey got out of his contract. Did he know enough to spill the beans on the budget over run, what the team really thought about winning in 2021, and perhaps many things we don't know anything about.
As Newey said it was a family, takes some big nasties to get a divorce.

 

Probably not the place to get into this, but Bottas won in 2021 too. I’m not saying that either car was dominant as there were rounds where each car was better, but that across the season the Merc just edged it.

 

He also wouldn't have won it if all rules hadn't been altered to get the desired result.

 

Magunsson decides you can go 3 wide at Monaco, so red flag.
If Le Clerc switches to meds under red flag, race won, job done.

A race ban would be well earned but I doubt the stewards have the guts to do it.

Kevin Magnussen stays on 10 penalty points. The stewards have decided no further investigation is needed into that opening-lap collision between the Red Bull and Haas.

 

Sounds like Carlos has been very lucky, he's back in 3rd!

 

Well, that was that, I can't see the top 4 changing now, maybe the medium tyred cars will be threatened, but I think that's it.
Annoying day today, so much motorsport on, but it's my last chance to attempt the online coca cola 600 at 3, so I'm gonna miss most of it.

The safety car has ruined any chance of a race.

Why do they take hards here knowing teams can drive 72 laps on them. Every year the same thing.

You'd be quite daft to hit the wall when trundling around 5 seconds off the pace

If it must stay on the calendar, they need to play around with the format for Monaco. Joker laps / extra mandatory pitstops would at least force the drivers to push

 

They should tell them the chicane after the tunnel needs to go and the trees need to come out and that whole area be opened up to make it at least wide enough to go side by side.

It's virtually impossible to pass and now there's no rain and no pit stops so the usual trundling side show you can drink champagne in peace while not watching the race
