I didn't say that, now did I? You were complaining that Freedland didn't credit Sunak for Furlough. I was pointing out that he also didn't go into all the Covid corruption or criticise him for eat out to help out.

Eat out to help out was minor in the great scheme of things. What corruption are you referring to? Be specific, as the independent CPS will presumably be pursuing it.

Seems to be taking a fair while unlike prosecuting the common folk propping up the carers services.

Latest Tory promise to pensioners is bizarre. They (nearly me) get a higher tax threshold than everyone else and don’t pay NI?

Why not just raise the tax thresholds for everyone - both the 20% and 40% levels are now punitively out of date, and make up the difference by adding in new tax rates at higher levels?

    Silly me.

We have different tax brackets up here compared to England and Wales...

    Scottish Income Tax 2024/25

The table shows the tax rates you pay in each band if you have a standard Personal Allowance of £12,570.

    Taxable income Band Tax rate
    Over £12,571 to £14,876 Starter rate 19%
Over £14,877 to £26,561 Scottish basic rate 20%
    Over £26,562 to £43,662 Intermediate rate 21%
    Over £43,663 to £75,000 Higher rate 42%
    Over £75,001 to £125,140 Advanced rate 45%
    Above £125,140 Top rate 48%

Personal Allowance is reduced by £1 for every £2 earned over £100,000.

Not sure how much extra this brings into the Scottish Treasury, but it seems a fairer spread to me

Giveaways to OAPs and conscription for the young, it's bizarre.

Meanwhile Rachel Reeves has ruled out increasing income tax, national insurance and corporation tax. Just how are Labour going to raise the money they will need to fix the NHS and all the other stuff that the Tories have broken? A wealth tax perhaps, but I think they've ruled that out too. 'We're going to grow the economy', they will say, but that's what Truss said.

I'm already disappointed by the ultra-cautious nature of the Starmer/Reeves approach to the election, but I do still cling to the hope that Labour will be much more radical in government than they are currently letting on. I'm certain, though, that however cautious, they will be massively better than what we've had for the last fourteen years. Tory voters whose only comeback when confronted with the car crash of the Cameron/May/Johnson/Truss/Sunak (have I missed any?) administrations that they supported, is to say that Labour will be just the same are quite pathetic in my opinion.
