Me neither. 32 year old, very experienced 6’5 centre half. Looks like a proper brick sh1t house. I am surprised that Swisdom or Dubai or the other brown nosers didn’t break the news
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonny_Bradley Another ex Luton player. There is a bit of a trend going on.
Didn’t realise he was ex Hatters, but profile-wise he is just the sort of player that we need. We were far too soft & easy to ruffle last season - too many social media nice guys like Hector & Thomas, who wouldn’t put their bodies in where it hurts.
Looks like NJ is working very hard to get his squad together ASAP . However it's Scott's job to move out the dead weight .
Very impressed with Nathan Jones on a number of levels, he’s another Bowyer IMO (who funnily enough went public in 2019 that as a club we are always too slow to sign players). I have got pig sick in recent years with our obsession with “leaving in late” perpetuating this myth that somehow good players are standing there in a queue near to deadline day - in truth it’s the opposite, and all that’s left is the s hit that nobody else wants. The freaky obsession with signing “Premier league kids on loan” also grated. Im so glad the SMT is following Nathan Jones on this now rather than Bamber Gascoigne - Mundell & Co.
I know he’s been in & out of favour with various owners over the years, but there’s something reassuring about Rich Cawley confirming our transfer targets. He’s always first with the news and gets very little wrong.
Berry (aged 32) could well be a decent enough signing, but doesn’t fit the profile we were told would be coming, ie strong, super-fit and able to outrun any opposition. The Scottish fella is more of an unknown, but lower half Scottish Championship standard isn’t great if we accept what @The Penguin says about Scottish Prem standard (apart from the top two) being about the same as EFL L1. Cawley is also saying that the ‘six figure bid’ is wide of the mark, so presuming it’s not a seven figure bid, it must be a five figure bid. Hardly evidence that the new owners are going to be spending more money to attract better players I’m afraid. Plus I have to say that the lily has been well and truly guilded here. Cawley hasn’t said that we’ve signed either of these players nor even that they are close to signing. So I think a bit of “Whoa there big fella” might be called for. Let’s see where we are at the start of June and let’s see how many of the seven new ‘elite’ players we need have been bought by the start of the season. We’ve already got enough 30 somethings, average Joes and academy kids.
It's got to be better when a new player knows he's there because the manager wants him, rather than because someone has looked at his stats.
True in Berry’s case. Not so sure about Edwards - I’ve no idea who has put his name forward - Scott or NJ
I am told by a long term fan who was at the POTY dinner & is well connected that Andy Scott has now been totally cut out of it. That didn’t go down well when reported to the Nerd Intellgensia on ITTV, but I believe it to be true. Scott’s sole role now is to do the T&Cs on contracts - he has been totally removed from player identification, and rightly so. Next time you read Bamber Gascoigne - Mundell man-splaining the Technical Director role at #cafc , go and make a cup of tea. You will have finished it by the time you’ve read his whole post anyway. The only reason Scott hasn’t been sent down the road (so far) is the public humiliation this would cause to Methven & Rodwell.
Sorry, but that just doesn’t ring true to me. If it IS true, I’d be delighted, although still question why we are paying him a big salary to do next to nothing, but as I’ve explained before, it does not fit in with the interviews that Charlie and Scott have given very recently on the OS and to the SLP. I no longer have any inside info about the club, but I’m going on the actual set-up of SE7 partners and GFP (and like it or not Charlie is the only ever present ingredient and still pulling the strings in all of this) plus what is being said officially and what is actually happening in terms of players we are signing and our performances on the pitch, both of which have got worse since the new owners took over. I’d love to be proved wrong and if there really has been a change in strategy then that’s exactly what is needed and I’d applaud it as much as anyone, but at this point in time I see no evidence of that, so remain totally unconvinced. I’ve been saying this since before day 1 and so far I’ve been spot on.
I’ve been told the identity of the next player we are signing, but I can’t reveal too much yet. What I can tell 606 members is that our next signing is a man, and he’s either left or right footed.
Ok, since you ask, some more info on the player we are signing. He has previously played for clubs who wear red shirts, and blue shirts, and white shirts. His hair is blondie brown sort of blackish in colour.
@A WUM called Hawtrey Ridiculous is still banging on about 8-8-8 The only sequence of three I listen to is on a fruit machine.
