I think it's all irrelevant anyway. They're 21 now, and with a new manager coming in, I just can't see him giving youth a chance when there's immediate pressure. Longman's only a couple of years older and had 3 years playing at this level now and he's probably a better and safer bet to rely on than Jarvis Donny on permanents would be great moves for Wood and Jarvis
Profile wise we don’t have a player like Jarvis though he’s got all the minerals to succeed just needs a chance
Has our wonderful scouting team looked at Hutchinson at Walsall? Decent numbers this year and highly rated.
Why Jarvis hasn't made th egrade at HC is maybe down to attitude. He can seemingly be brilliant or non existent, there's no middle ground.
I very rarely see the youngsters play, so others may have a more informed view, but I saw Jarvis play three times for the U21s and each time he looked both the most talented and the least interested in doing any hard defensive work. If he could watch Philogene and tell himself that's how hard you have to work, then I think he has the skill level to play regular first team football. It's a big if though.
If he hasn’t learned it with us by now, I don’t think he’s going to unless Walter insists on keeping him. I think McCann will take him at Doncaster, or Shelbourne will make an offer. I don’t see much of a future for him here.
I sort of agree, and that might be what happens, but Jarvis didn't look out of place in the pre-season games, and actually played well, We need a back up on the left for Philogene, assuming he stays, and he wouldn't be a bad option to have IMO
Wonder if we’ll go for Ambrosius after being released by Hamburg. Given Walter has quite a unique way of playing with his centre-backs with them rotating into midfield and making clever runs off the ball to confuse the opposition’s press and create space, it would require a lot of drilling in training to get our back four playing this way. Having a centre-back who is used to Walter’s style would be a huge plus.
I think if we had just come up, he’d be an alright option to have. I consider Longman the better player and more suitable and experienced as back up. But if we are serious about pushing for promotion, the players on the bench need to be almost as good, if not as good, as the starting XI. The days of having the likes of Fleming, Woods and Sharp as bench options should be long behind us.
That’s simply not attainable given our position without parachute. Youth players absolutely should be used as options, particularly ones with an eye for goal and lightning pace. He’s one of the few who’ve actually consistently performed whilst out on loan too so should 100% get a chance
Fair enough. He played a bit due to Vušković being suspended. Vušković is clearly their best centre-half. Schonlau is also good from what I’ve heard and Hadžikadunić seems to be a bit hit and miss but some of their fans rate him as someone with potential.
Yeah, apparently he did not like the style Walter was playing at all so I think there's basically 0 chance Walter would sign him
Hadžikadunić is an interesting one as he’s not HSV’s player. He’s on loan from Russian team Rostov. I think due to the invasion, lots of non-Russian players playing in the Russian league have been allowed to leave. I remember reading about some players under contract for Russian teams refusing to play for their clubs in protest and FIFA backing them to ignore their contracts as part of sanctions. I don’t know if HSV have an option to buy him. In fact, I don’t know if clubs under UEFA can actually give Russian clubs transfer fees due to the sanctions which is why I think a lot of them have left on loan or had their contracts terminated.
Would make sense and not all the russians support the war so not really fair to stop them from participating in sport if they don't, not that many of them would say they did not support it incase of recriminations against their families. My bad i misread what you put but i do agree it would make sense for players to be allowed to leave russian clubs russian or none russian.
